Nice! I think this is starting to make the decision for me as to do Interwar in 1/300 (my WWI collection) or 1/600 (everything else). Guess I'll have to pick up some of those late WWI birds that stuck around through the 1920s and very early 30s in 1/600 – that'll be a fun paint job. I'll also have to start looking for a Akron or Macon model in some smaller scale. |
| Kaoschallenged | 05 Mar 2012 8:51 p.m. PST |
There is a free paper model of the Akron. Not sure what scale. But you can probably print it out at 1/600. I know it might be fiddley and difficult cuz its paper/cardstock. But it's whats out there :). Robert link |

How about a list of Interwar aircraft that people would like? Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wagaming Yahoo Group link |
BlackWidowPilot | 02 Apr 2012 8:25 p.m. PST |
A list you say? Well, I can *recommend* some inter-war types on the basis of their actual combat deployment during the 30s and during the early stages of WW2: Curtis Hawk II biplane fighter (China, Thailand, Gran Chaco War) Curtis BF2C1 biplane fighter (China, Thailand) Curtis Hawk 75 fixed gear export fighter (China, Thailand) Fiat CR 32 biplane fighter (SCW, China) Breda 27 fighter (China) Polikarpov I-15 biplane fighter (SCW, China, VVS at Nomonhan, Winter War, Operation Barbarossa) Polikarpov I-153 biplane fighter (China, VVS at Nomonhan, Winter War, Operation Barbarossa) Polikarpov I-15bis biplane fighter (China, VVS at Nomonhan, Winter War, Operation Barbarossa) Polikarpov R-5 two-seater biplane recce/army cooperation (SCW, VVS at Nomonhan, Winter War, Operation Barbarossa) Tupolev SB-2 (SCW, China, Nomonhan, Winter War, Barbarossa) Fokker D XXI (Winter War, Five Days Battle 1940) Fokker C V two-seater (Winter War, Five Days Battle, Continuation War) Heinkel He-51 (SCW) Dewoitine D510 (SCW, China) Northrop A-12 Shrike (China) Nakajima Ki-10 "Perry" biplane fighter (Sino-Japanese War) Nakajima Ki-27 "Nate" (Sino-Japanese War, Nomonhan, WW2) Mitsubishi A5M "Claude" (Sino-Japanese War, Nomonhan, WW2) Savoia-Marchetti SM 81 Pipistrello (SCW, WW2) Junkers Ju52 bomber variant (SCW) Hope this helps!

Just off the top of my head the following are already available in 1/600, Fiat CR.32 Fokker D.XXI Fokker C V SB-2 I-15 I-153 I-16 A5M "Claude Ki-27 "Nate" P-26 Martin B-10/139WH-3 Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawk Are there any others that people would like to see made in 1/600? Robert, thanks for that info! I am amazed that the Fokker D XXi, C V, and Polikarpov biplanes are available in 1/600 scale; seems like the 1/600 scale makers are as eclectic in their interests as any

Yes they are Leland. Though some are more responsive to others in their eclectic tastes . I have sent quite a few 3-views to Roe and Arun of aircraft used between the wars and into the early part of WWII. There is also these available, HAWKER NIMROD/FURY GLADIATOR ME-109D FIAT CR.42 FIAT BR.20 RENARD R31 SAVOIA MARCHETTI SM.79 AVIA B.534

BlackWidowPilot | 04 Apr 2012 12:36 p.m. PST |
Very cool. The Gladiator and the Fury are perfect for China and SCW respectively. In 1/144 scale Reviresco has made an effort to produce a fairly extensive array of aircraft suitable for the Sino-Japanese conflict up to and including the arrival of the AVG. Still, there are some holes in the KMT Chinese Air Force inventory
What rules do you use for this scale BTW? Leland R. Erickson
|
| Kaoschallenged | 04 Apr 2012 3:48 p.m. PST |
I have been working on my KMT right now. I have the P-26,CW-21,Martin-139WH-3,and of course the P-40. I have some 1-16s on order and am going to order some I-153s and SB-2s soon. And of course I will need CR.32s and Gladiators. I forgot to add to the list above the Fairey Fox too that is available. I was using BTH since there were stats out there for interwar aircraft. I'm not sure if BTH2 has them. There are a couple of other rule sets with stats out there. I have also used "Scramble!" in the past. Robert My 1/600 Miniature Aircraft Wagaming Yahoo Group link |

"
Aircraft stats
?" Not really. The WAD version gives the rationale / math, and I'll gladly communicate 'offline' with anyone interested in the numbers I use – I'll selfishly post an advertisement, but draw the line at hijacking the entire thread
I've got some limits! ; ) To be honest, since WW1 data is iffy at best I figured letting each individual/group decide on what they were happy with was best. That, and the fact that I'm really just 'concept testing' caused me to forego getting deep into research/number-crunching. |

put that much work into a set of rules." I appreciate the humor, but also stand by my assertion that anyone accepting any performance data as given in any ruleset is doing no better than pulling numbers out of a hat. |
