Probably unlikely to happen as pre-Colombian Americas minis are still a niche-wargaming group in all scales. But, if one company were gauging interest in producing say a 30-40-figure multi-part (multi-pose) box set that allowed you to collect all the basic Aztec Warrior classes (ie. Eagle warrior, Jaguar warrior, Cuachicqueh, Otomitl, etc
) & weapon variations (http://www.aztec-history.com/ancient-aztec-weapon.html,) how interested would you be in them? Lets go 1 to 10, 10 being the highest interest, 1 the lowest, and a 5 meaning "It depends on what the figures looked like!" For me? No question
10 Fodder for the poll:

At least a 5; especially with the whole 2012 Mayan calendar thing and all. Although, I have to admit I'm very clueless as to the actual who's who or what's what of them. Dean |

0 None whatsoever. And as there is so much variety I doubt one set could do it anyway. Now, if you had said 'generic Amazonian jungle tribes' then I'd be an 8. |

Mr Brown, you really only have 7 separate warrior castes to worry about (including unarmored civilian militia types). The torso is the same for 4 of those castes, as pictured here:
The various back banners for the 3 castes that wear them could pose the largest problem as far as space. I wouldnt say its impossible to do. It would certainly be adventurous of a company to produce, that is for sure! |
Justin Penwith | 29 Feb 2012 12:39 a.m. PST |
The folks most apt to do these would be Wargames Factory, depending upon demand from L&U and a viable set of rules (because claims of demand don't equal dollars unless there is a reason to collect). Uesugi, your opinion of WF is well known, would you be willing to give them a shot if it were they who produced these? Just curious
I don't have a horse in this race
well, beyond that I can afford to build armies with their products. |

0. If I wanted to paint up an enormous army of melée thugs I'd sooner stick to something relatively easy. Plaid sporting Gallic hordes would be a snap relative to Aztecs. |

Though I've never gamed the period, I've always kinda liked it. I'd give Aztecs maybe a 7-8, but I'd say 8-9 for Mayans. |

The internets are sadly given to exaggeration; rarely do we read a balanced view or review – it's always the extremes of "Worst thing eva" or "OMG best thing ever FTW". So know that it is not lightly that I say 10. 10 boxes. However, in the interim, the Eureka metals are really nice. |

Am I the only one who is going to vote 5? Could do with Could do without Although this may tip to the lower end if it was someone like like WGF But in all seriousness theres probably a good dozen or other mini lines that would be much more profitable and popular. Maybe I live under a rock though |

"I once had a lovely metal 25mm army from Naismith Design, but sold it, unplayed." Still have one (partially painted) in 15s in a drawer, somewhere They were going to be used for 6th or 7th edition. Nice figures ! |

2. Interested in Aztecs, but I haven't painted the 25mm metal ones from Ral Partha that I own, and am not playing any minis system that would call for Aztecs, not even a VSF one. Thus not much incentive to add to the Pile. |
Richard Gaulding | 03 Mar 2012 8:04 a.m. PST |
Maybe a 7 or 8? It'd depend on what the minis looked like. However, I've always liked Mesoamerican aesthetics so painted up a bunch of these guys would be right up my alley! |

Even though I'm the only one in my group with any interest, and I don't know of a good rules-set, I'd still buy 'em. I would blow the better part of a paycheck on plastic 28mm Aztecs. |

While it is unique and potentially fascinating, I think if I were going to put that much effort into something of that level of exotica, I would go all the way and just paint up an army for Empire of the Petal Throne. So for me: 2 |
Lowtardog | 07 Jun 2012 1:32 a.m. PST |
Once it would ahve been a 10 but now a 0 owing to (sniff) selling off the armies (cry) a nice idea with plenty of options including back banners, head gear to convert into other city states etc |
