I know intimidating or annoying ranges have been discussed, but is there a line of figs that you really enjoy painting? A certain manufacturer or faction that you seem to take your time with and get better results than usual? Any particular figs inspire Matrix-like brush-fu? At the moment, I seem to be enamored to Sedition Wars figs and the Lead Adventure Post-Apoc stuff. For vehicles, I'd say Antenociti's Workshop. |

Perhaps the figures that gave me the biggest happy face while painting were Conquest Woodlands Indians and Heartbreaker goblins. Although AWI is my favorite period, neither of these had WHITE STRAPS! Yeehah! If only I could paint British Grenadiers or Hessian fusiliers without no white straps

My paint skills are just about right for grains of rice, still I find good castings with slightly exaggerated detail improve my work, just not quite to the standard of some of the contributors to these pages. |

I'd be tempted to say my Mid Nor dwarves from Rackham
LOTS of little details and opportunities to do different skin tones (on the same figure). I'm not sure I've done them justice, but they're fun to paint and urge me to bring my A Game to the table. |

My best paint jobs have been applied to Dixon Old West 25s, Quality Castings/Old Glory 15s WWII, Peter Pig Pirates and Figurehead 1/1250 Coastals along with a couple of smaller ranges like 15mm gladiators (don't remember whose
). I think my 1/600 modern airplanes are coming along very nicely as well. |

I would have to say the Empress Miniatures Zulu Wars British are some of the best I have done. Great poll suggestion, by the way. |

I admit that my painting skill isn't equal to the quality of the castings but Reaper & Hasselfree figures inspire my best efforts. |

Conquest Indians and Knuckleduster War of 1812 Canadians. Great stuff. Doodle bashing the way it should be done. Eric |

Front Rank really does well for me as the contours are deep enough that the detail of a wash really comes out. The Victrix metal Russians went very well too, although they are much thinner the quality of sculpting and casting made them a joy to work with. |

I prefer the Perry plastic Naps over the Victrix version. Both are good, but I was painting both last night, and I just found the Perry figures to have that extra something that I don't see in the Victrix. Eric |

I particularly enjoy painting Front Rank's WSS figures; the sculpting style makes up in large part for my ineptitude with a brush. |

Sash & Sabre Napoleonics, and 3mm stuff from Pico Armor. |

Anything which takes a wash and a drybrush well and does not require me to paint red piping on top of black or midnight blue jackets. I actually enjoy painting Irregular 6mm stuff a lot, suits my painting style, even if the flash removal can be a nightmare. I never tire of painting WW2 British infantry either. Tanks, any manufacturer, any scale. |

In 28mm, my favorites have to be Copplestone. I just love them: link link link For 15mm, I love Peter Pig over everyone else: link I have some other favorites as well, but these two have to be at the top of my list. |

My painting always looks better on Crusader (Sims) or Artizan (Owen) stuff for some reason. I love Perry minis but they don't best suit my style. |
Dentatus | 28 Feb 2012 11:59 a.m. PST |
Altius – beautiful brushwork on those Copplestone figs. The 15mm are pretty sweet too, but I'm partial to 28s. |

I love most of the Reaper Mini figures. These very often inspire me to do some of my very best painting (even through that's a 4 or 5 on the CMON scale). I found that the Iron Kingdom's minis from Privateer Press/Rivet Head studios are also ones that really make me work hard to make them look really nice. The ones that I have the most fun with are the Mercenary minis for WARMACHINE and the HORDES minis (Also Privateer Press/Rivet Head studios). For example, my "avatar icon" is the small trollkin that is peaking out of the bag that is on the Trollblood Axer Medium Warbeast for Hordes. That's the kind of detail you find on their "standard" minis for the game. Finally, back to Reaper
their giant size Dragons offer me a chance to really take some powerfully detailed and painstaking efforts to get dragons that are huge (their are nearly 30 cm long/tall depending on the sculpt) to look really good. Any "slapdash" effort on them looks totally horrendous because of the size of the "mini". Andy Welkley "Your Phrendlee Hevy Phyzx T-chrr" |

Thanks, Dentatus. 28s are my favorite too. |

Currently I am loving to paint the LAF Brugelburg stuff. Wonderful castings with so much character. I also really enjoy the Perry 100YW figures, Eureka 18mm MAW, and Copplestone BoB. Chris |

I recently wandered over to the Copplestone site and priced out two Russian Civil War/BoB forces. Gorgeous stuff. If I get serious about that project, I'll have to make major room on the shelves. Or more shelves. |
