While trying to distract myself I managed to finish two new 1/200 scale resin minis from Armaments in Miniature. Both are very nice minis and I didn't notice any problems with them. The Ki-30 is a single piece mini while the Ki-10 is a three piece kit (main assembly and two landing gears). The Goblin Factory produces the decals and Armaments in Miniature carries them. link

Kevin, again beautiful work on the Ki-30 Ann and the Ki-47 Lily. I especially love the paint job on the Lily.

I concur with Dave: the Lily is beautiful! Was the mottled made using a successive thinned paint layers technique of some sort?

Thanks all.

Rolando, yes, I used very thinned down green paint and Future floor finish. The base color is Vallejo Green-Gray and if I remember right the green is Vallejo Military Green. Once the base coat was dry I put a spot of Future and a spot of paint on the palette. I took a stiff bristle brush, dipped it in the paint, then in the Future until I got a mix that looked right. I dabbed the paint on more than brushed it. It was a fairly thin mix and took several coats. Kevin

Look great!

I have not ordered from AiM before, but will definately check it out as I am always looking to supplement my 1/200 airforces.

Oh good!!! You have them finished. Now send them to ME!!!!

Nice stuff, Mr Kevin.

Kevin has a Ki-21 Sally and G3M Nell to paint (see photos above). Soon he will be doing a Douglas DB-7, A-20C, A-20G, A/B-26, I-16, and Yak-1. This should keep you busy Kevin. Sorry for the typo in previous message, it should be the Ki-"48" Lily. "afilter" let me know what you would like to see in the 1/200 scale range. "Historicalgamer", tempted yet???

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit – who supplies those magnetic connectors? They look like a great product. I'm assuming they're rare-earth magnets…

As for the planes, they are just beautiful!

Duh – just took a second look at the connectors – hex nuts with a spherical end on top of the post, then a RE magnet on the bottom of the plane. THAT is very cool!

PM, not sure about those magnets, they look like a custom project.

Here is a link to some others that were done for planes as well that can be fitted to just about any flight stand.

Sorry about the typos, I'm getting my Ki-s mixed up.

Ki-30 Ann
Ki-48 Lily

The Ki-10 was that little biplane. My apologies for the confusion.

Dave, the more the merrier.

Keith, wish I had known you wanted them. I gave them to the kid next door. Kevin

afilter,

Thanks for the link, those look like a great product.

The magnetic connectors come from AIM LLC. All of the 1/200 scale models have a small metal screw cast into the models (can be removed is desired) so that you do not need to add a magnet or other type of device. They will work on any rare earth magnet tipped stand (north/south). The hex nut/acorn nut fits over the rare earth magnet on the telescoping rod provided with several of the CY6 Style and WoW Style flight stands. Problem is that the telescoping rod that was used is no longer available. I am trying to remaster some of the CY6 and WoW stands to accept a different telescoping rod (larger diameter base and larger diameter magnet) with a maneuver device on top of the rod. I will also add the hex nut/acorn nut (optional) to provide a stand with superior maneuverability.

Great work as always, Kevin. The Ki-48 is lovely.
