Tried out Ganesha Games' Flying Lead modern rules in a post-apocalyptic setting. Here's a brief report. link |

Good looking game. My group had pretty much the same reaction to Flying Lead: a bit crunchier than we expected, which led to lots of rulebook flipping. But have you heard about Apocalypticum? It's Ganesha's new post-apocalyptic ruleset, currently under development. My club had a chance to playtest a rough draft of the rules. Here's the report if you want to check it out. link |

Nice report. I felt roughly the same way you did about the crunchyness of the Flying Lead rules and multiple modifiers. Don't give up on Ganesha for Post-apoc violence though. I'm one of the playtesters for their upcoming Post-Apoc game, which is a bit more streamlined and lots of fun. The buggy is a Junkers Desert Marurader from the Void game. One of my favorite small vehicles. Edit: And Patrick beats me to the punch
. Seriously man, don't you have a job? ;-) |

Thanks for the info Patrick & OB. Yes, I remember seeing the call for Apocalyptica playtesters on the Ganesha yahoo group, & saw your battle report here on TMP. But I initially discounted the rules since they were tied to the Lead Adventure figures. But just today, I reread the playtest report here & noticed that you (OB) said that the Mutant & Death Ray Guns force builder could be used for Apocalypticum, which definately encouraged to consider it again. Do you know if it's still possible to get a copy of the playtest version? Actually, while we were playing our Chicks vs Slicks game, both my opponent & I both were lamenting that we hadn't thought to get the Apocalypicum rules to use for the game instead of Flying Lead. OB, so if Apocalypticum can use the MDRG builder, does that mean it has at least a subset of all the same skills & weapons. Even though Flying Lead seemed a bit too crunchy for weapons, I wanted more weapon variability than MRDG. Weapons in MRDG seemed like reskinned crossbows. Thanks |

You can contact Andrea at the Ganesha Yahoo group to see if he's got room for more playtesters. As for ranged weapon variability I think it's more than MDRG, but it isn't anywhere near as much as Flying Lead. You've got pistols, assault rifles, bow, shotgun, grendade launcher, flamethrower, SMG, Sniper rifle and a few different kinds of grenades. In the games we played, the only ranged weapon felt was missing was a regular rifle, though the assault rifle stats are close enough. |
