Today's Poll Suggestion is for "Best Sci-Fi Rules of 2011". The rules are simple. This must be a brand new set of rules for use in a Fantasy setting. Defining "Science fiction" is up to you. It CAN be a new revision, as in "2nd Edition". It can be army rules, an RPG, simple skirmish rules, etc. It can be in any scale, any level. Finally, it must have first gone on sale, anywhere in the world, in the calendar year 2011. To make it to the Round One Poll, a "rules set" must be nominated on this thread. It will do no good to complain that your favorite range is not listed if it has not been nominated. I cannot help you if you have "Poll Suggestions" turned OFF. I will be crossposting to appropriate Fantasy Boards, lest anyone whine about missing it. |

Hm
I think perhaps you should do two levels: RPG/Low Level Skirmish Army/Platoon level or higher That way you wouldn't have stuff like Tomorrows War and Star Army competing with Blasters and Bulkheads and New Beginnings
they're really too different to compare, IMO. BTW, I nominate all of those (though I've only played 3 of them). |

Absolutely not. We went through this the last time. I absolutely REFUSE to fragment these awards like the Grammies. Such fragmentation will make the Award meaningless. Just look at how many nominees whe had for the 2010 Awards. |

So much for clever cut and paste. OBVIOUSLY I meant "appropriate sci-fi" Boards. So, shoot me. I am not perfect. Just well meaning. |

So is this a voting thread or a nomination thread? Regardless, I say Urban War 2nd Edition from Urban Mammoth. Sedition Wars from Studio McVey might also count but I don't think free alpha rules are eligible as per the "go on sale" rule. |

Tomorrow's War. I hope it's received enough mentions by now to appear on the final ballot? |

So now its time for the 24 hour news cycle to start making predictions: Looks to me like the 5150s split the "THW" vote
those guys are notoriously vocal. You seem them outside of malls and grocery stores saying "THW 2012 THW 2012 THW 2012!" but their foreign policy and stance on the federal bank means the media kinda ignores them, and they don't get many new voters. Tomorrow's War is kinda like a more centrist 5150
its the go to candidate for pro-weird activations, and like most winning nominees, its really come out of nowhere very recently compared to the aged 5150 (which often can't get over its past history of women with guns, poor CGI, and bad layout). It also doesn't have the split vote. Blasters and Bulkheads and Gruntz are on the other side of the spectrum. Most see Gruntz as kinda like 40k, but in a good way. Like Gruntz, BnB is a bit less simulation-y and a bit more about designing cool units, but its also got a very different focus. While Gruntz is more like 40k level battles and a bit more about the equipment and such, BnB is a low level skirmish game, and more about the characters. Unfortunately for BnB I think New Beginnings might steal some of its votes because they cover similar grounds and New Beginnings has a larger fanbase to start with, while Gruntz is basically going up against Tomorrow's War
Its going to come down to who can mobilize more votes in Ohio

I'll add another (multiple nomination) for Tomorrow's War, with an honourable mention for In the Emperor's Name for making my pile of 40k models a little less worthless. Gruntz gets my 'best adaption' award; it is so identical to Warmachine I have high hopes of getting more PP players into 15mm
