Could someone let me know what you think the best way to make street rubble/debris is? Any links would be appreciated. |

I use kitty litter of various sizes. I also make brick walls from Super-Sculpy, wrap them in a handkerchief, and then smash them with a hammer. Dried tea leaves scattered in the street can look like dead leaves and branches, too.

Here's my method using Sculpey: link Though the hammer method sounds like it would work in a pinch just dandy. |

Find a piece of broken concrete in the street, parking lot, etc
Take a hammer to it

I use cat litter and tiles. The tiles are in craft stores for making mosaics I think, they come in a tub. They also make a tile cutter and if I want pieces that are kind of squared off I take the cutter and nip at the pieces (originally about 1/4" square). That gives me some irregular "brick looking" pieces and those, mixed with cat litter, makes up most of my small rubble to scatter around. |

evilcartoonist – where do you get your Sculpey from? I've never heard of it before. I'm in Canada. |

Any craft store should have the stuff. Here in the US it is carried by AC Moore, Joanne Fabrics, and Michaels. So find a store like those up your way. |

Thomson cat litter, Plastic model sprues cut up and sand to sprinkle over them should do the trick. |

I keep my scrap from making foamcore buildings to make rubble piles. I can throw together a couple while waiting for joints to dry. |

Haven't tried it, but I would guess that you could crumble pieces of styrofoam, and spray paint them. I can get course sand and small rocks/pebbles out of my wife's garden (so long as she isn't looking). |

I use kitty litter of various sizes. I used to use Kitty Litter. Oh that sad day when that cat got into my wargames room. The smell
the look of it
the mess it made. The incredulous looks on my wargames friends when I opened the door of that room! The gagging!!!! Since then I have used crumbled cork mostly, sometimes foam. But also some small soft stones that I just smash with a hammer. I also spray anything like that with a very strong varnish. It keeps the cat away! Oh GOD
.The nightmares!

I would think that the gravel sold for fishtanks/aquariums would do the job. You can find all sizes and types in a big pet store. |

Try paver base material. It's comes in bags for putting down a base for paver bricks. It's a mix of course sand and small crumbly rocks of various textures and sizes. I found it at Home Depot for about 3 USD. |

I use a lightweight railroad ballast in various sizes. I don't THINK that it is made by Woodland Scenics, and it's lighter in weight than most alternatives and very durable. It has a light dust to it, but not as bad as cat litterr or other more "organic" substances. Trying to find a link

For my photo gallery entitled Germany 1945 I made a lot of rubble for my 15s. You can read the write up of what I did as well as see how it came out at link |
