I finally completed all of the vehicles I bought to go with my infantry. Take a look at the Slicks, Hogs, Cobras, APCs, Mortar Carriers, Sheridans, and Patton tanks.

Also, to see the infantry and the la Drang board I built, take a look here:

Awesome stuff!

Thanks for the kind words.

What product would you suggest, Kyote…, for the mud effect you are referring to?

Speaking of the tracks, I have the Patton artwork on my iMac at work as my desktop photo. Looking at it inspired me to paint all the tracks in shades of gray, instead of metal.

All the photos I have seen of Vietnam has this nasty Alabama-red-clay soil… everywhere.

The insides of the tracks should be covered in the stuff, and there should really be a dusting of it all over the vehicles.

Having seen the battlefront tracks, I'm going to have to buy some of them, I can tell. The extra stowage makes them look so much better than what I have now.

These are pretty cool looking! Altho I'm a little intrigued as to how the vietcong are supposed to survive against this lot and make for an exciting/fun game for both players…

Kyote…

You are just suggesting paint. I thought you were referring to a more 3 dimensional product, like a pigment or something. That's what I meant by what product. I should have said what brand.

Samulus, we are fighting the Army of North Vietnam, not the VC. At least, not yet.

Dunno, but I have photos of AFVs in Vietnam that do NOT have the red-clay mud. IIRC that was a feature of only certain areas of Vietnam (Central Highlands? Have to see my book), but other areas had more "conventional" mud shades…

Damon.

Nice – I've still got to get my Blackhorse army painted…

My PAVN Bn is waiting! ;)

I'd suggest using the "Gesso" product that people mostly use for a primer for canvas paintings. It mixes with any color paint you want to use, so with a little red-brown, should make a nice muddy look for you.

I have used MIG pigments for mud and dust and I'm very happy with the results. This one should be right for your needs:

I hope they keep expanding the range so you get some NVA tanks at some point. Dragon made an awesome NVA T-34/85 kit a while back – had T55 style replacement wheels and everything…

I'd love to see them update the rules so you could do a true "thunder road" with a Blackhorse force… now you can sort of simulate it… :D
