Now that Osprey has published Raid: Tomahawk and Musket – French and Indian Raids in the Ohio Valley 1758, how much does this theater of the war interest you? * it's my main focus * I'm interested in it * it's OK * I'm not that interested in it * I would never play that * I'm not interested in the French & Indian War |

I'd play. Someone else would have to set up the game, but I could bring additional woodland Indians. Rick |

What do they consider the "Ohio Valley"? Is the fighting around Pittsburgh the Ohio Valley? Allegheny and Monangahela, and alll that. Bushy Run drains into one of them, so I guess I already have! Does the entire Ohio drainage count? |

I have always been interested in the FIW period. I have not seen this new book yet. But may be a good opportunity to dust off my 28mm figures again! |

I'm not interested in the French & Indian War Kind of missed this in the little history I studied. |
x42brown | 20 Feb 2012 8:08 a.m. PST |
I'm interested in it I've gone to the length of fairy deep research at one time and up dated that research several times all ways stopping just short of buying the necessary forces each time due to negative reactions from potential opponents. It would take very little to get me started. x42 |

I live here. I'm very interested. Wouldn't call it my main focus, don't know whether I have one of those, what with all the Hobby Attention Deficit Disorder. But very interested. I have a big collection and I stage games. |

I'm interested, but it will likely be months if not years before dabbling in this. I might pick up the book sooner than later though.

We bought a blu-ray player for Christmas, our gift to ourselves. One of the fist films I watched was "Last of the Mohicans", again. That has piqued my interest in the FIW. I will buy the book sometime this year. |

I'm highly interested in it. Reenact it too. I've been quietly painting figures and staged the odd game now and then. I have some French regulars on the paint table right now, having done my milice and troopes des colonies already. |

* I'm interested in it It's one of those periods that has always interested me, but I've got too many projects going to start a new one. Maybe next year. |

I've already done several games, including one at a convention last year, that were loosely placed in the "greater" Ohio valley. Jim |

20%, huh? Eric, I have always admired your figures. They're beautiful. Trying hard not to hijack the topic, but what rules would be best to play FIW? I imagine it's best as a skirmish game, right? |

I usually use This Very Ground from Iron Ivan. I've also used a modified Legends of the Old West when we did a campaign. This weekend we were using Black Powder on our demo table at Strategicon in LA. Just 2 Regiments each of Regulars and 2 skirmishing units on either side. Was quick and lots of fun. Its a great system for small or large games. I haven't tried too many other systems. Two Hour Wargames make s a good set as well. -Eric |

Very interested. Already doing/planning games based in and around the area. Here's a start on answering the "Where's the Ohio Valley Question". maps.com/map.aspx?pid=16018 |

I have used This Very Ground for the period, though we usually do Upstate New York it would work fine for Ohio or Kentucky. |

21eRegt | 20 Feb 2012 3:04 p.m. PST |
"Habitants and Highlanders" works very well. "Stand Your Ground" does as well. "Drums of War Along the Mohawk" is a fun game. Lots of choices out there, kind of depends on your tastes. |

I've been working on the FIW since December/January and I already have scores of figures painted so right now it's my main focus, but I'm interested with woodlands warfare in general. |
Berzerker73 | 20 Feb 2012 9:19 p.m. PST |
Very interested, have lots of woodland warriors. In process of bulking up british and colonial forces. Also use this very ground |

Where does having over 800 painted figures for the period rank in the hiearchy you've outlined? And having a few hundred more to paint? It's not my main focus, but I'm more than interested in it. |
DJCoaltrain | 20 Feb 2012 10:54 p.m. PST |
I am quite fond of the FIW, I host games for that period. |

The fact that the Ohio Valley is almost in my backyard(I actually live in the Tuscarawus Valley),I'm very interested.I havent played any FIW for a long time,as for the past few years I've been focusing on the AWI. 79th PA-I'm actually using my FIW Brits for AWI. |

"What do they consider the "Ohio Valley"?" OFM Basically concentrates on the small scale combats associated with Forbes' 1758 campaign against Ft Duquesene. Think Grant's Hill and the French retaliatory raid. A bit of a mixed bag in terms of artwork (both original and recycled), narrative a bit more from the French side than is usual but really no great exposition. An OK title but not earth shattering, this one seems a bit thin on content compared to Chartrand's other FIW Osprey Campaigns books. |

I have a board built plus family bought me several conquest minis
Need Potawatomi though
we wore turbans! ;) Some kind fellows here directed me toward some rulesets also
;) When my deployment ends I'll be gaming! .. Well after a month of honey-do lists and painting! ;) |

It's not like they just chrun out Osprey books used old or recycled research. :-) The Ohio Valley really is west and south of Pittsburgh, but the title sounds cool. |
zippyfusenet | 27 Mar 2012 11:50 a.m. PST |
Hiya Cadian. You might want to look at Seminole figures; those are usually presented in turban and hunting shirt and could maybe pass for late Potawatomis with the right paint job. Conquest makes some nice 28mm Seminoles and Old Glory has Seminoles by the bag. |

Historygamer, "It's not like they just chrun out Osprey books used old or recycled research. :-)"
The very thought of it! Osprey are publishers of high quality, thoroughly researched monographs but4 bear in mind my Imagi-Nation might be Cloud Cuckoo Land! "The Ohio Valley really is west and south of Pittsburgh, but the title sounds cool."
Agreed, I was kind of hoping for something post-Braddock & pre-Forbes (Kittaning and all that). This is really just a very light version of what ought to have been a campaign title on the Forbes Campaign. The Raid volume on Havana is a more cohesive work but I would have much rather had it as a Campaign volume. The art work is less reliant on C19th images and has a number of paintings from the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich |
