But done for gaming purposes instead?

If so, I REALLY would like to see some details of your underground base project?

Thanks,

Dan

Is this a model for a underground bunker system, for the end of the world?

Seems like it, doesn't it.

If not with open TOP access to figures . . .

Has anyone build an underground base complex with open SIDE access similar to this one here?

If so, I would love to hear all about it. How did it work out for you during gaming?

This is the only such example I've ever seen done for gaming purposes:

There have been a few monstrously large display tables at Adepticon.

What type of bunker is that model in. It looks like the hold of a ship.

It looks REALLY cool on a convention table, but stacked-with-open-sides limits how many rooms you can use. In practice, I'd rather build each level as a separate game board.

If you're using modular corridors, it's easy enough just to swap a few bits around when characters move from level to level. Or if you're using print-and-play rooms like Paper Make It's Space Base or SpaceJacker's Star Station Zero, you could have several pre-made levels on individual black poster boards. Then you could set up several levels on the same table and really let your characters get lost. :)

HarmonWard,

The steelwork looks like tunnel lining segments. The style of church on the model, plus the characters on the steel segments suggest, maybe, somewhere in Russia?

So much more of the modern military and civilian underground architecture in Russia is accessible now, than it obviously would have been in the past. And many locals have realized there's a dollar or two in tours…..

The model in CC's OP is displayed inside the bunker modeled,
Bunker-42 on Taganka, in Moscow.

A good bunker, well stocked with your favorite figures, can take the edge off the Apocalypse.

A long time ago I did a bit of Bunker Building …

had to get rid of it as it took up so much space but it was fun at the time

I made this a few years back. 40mm scale Nazi complex. Got best demo game of the year.

Doctor, that was excellent. What did you use for the 1" floor squares?

Lego Warrior20 Feb 2012 8:40 p.m. PST

Thanks John T and CeruLucifus the walls and floors were made up of Sci-Fi stuff from Dwarven Forge.

I had a lot of their Caverns and Sci Fi sets but as I mentioned it was a lot of stuff to store at the time. Plus I was fed up with putting it together every game so I stuck it all down on MDF boards.

I have a few Caverns sets still but it really is a pain to put it all together for each agme in my opinion.

Then again it does look fantastic

I'm thinking of building a 3'x 3'multilayered terrain board for SOTR possibly 3 levels with the central core of an office chair so that it rotates, labs and underground V-2 launch sites and such inside it (think umbrella corp. labs from res-evil movies).

There are some great pics there. Very inspiring.

Here's another example of a side-access board:

And, I guess, these top-access boards could be done as multilevel, if you have a set up for each level:

I've built a few mountains with caves in their backsides, even a cut-away volcano cone, but I sold them in the flea market @historicon and have no pictures.
