Yesterday's Bloomberg Op-Ed piece How Iran Nuclear Standoff Looks From Saudi Arabia mentioned:
Iran's expansionist goals are exemplified in the occupation of three islands in the Gulf that belong to the UAE. The link is to the UAE's UN page and uses the inflammatory Arabian Gulf, instead of the accepted Persian Gulf or Persian Sea going as far back as the Greeks, IIRC – like referring to the Falklands as Las Malvinas. Abu Musa Greater and Lesser Tunbs Seizure of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs What's the likelihood of the UAE annexing the islands in the event of an Hormuz Straits' War? Do they even have the amphibious capability to take and hold the islands without support from neighboring Arab states? Here is another tidbit; "Swedish shipbuilder Swede Ship Marine have built four 24 m Amphibious Troop Transport Vessel and one 25 m Fast Supply Vessel for the U.A.E Navy (delivered between 2003 and 2005)." They seem to be capable of doing it – question is would they
