Is it cheating to paint up and base a unit and then add a flag that you didn't create??? |

I hand painted the flags for the first dozen or so AWI regiments that I painted. That included such back breakers as two Hessian regiments, the 23rd Foot, the Buffs, the 1st Pennsylvania
I never had the ambition to tackle the 2nd New Hampshire. Using commercially printed flags is no more cheating than is paying someone else to paint your figures. |

What a bizarre question. Is it cheating to paint figures which you haven't sculpted and cast yourself? |

No. But it does show a distinct lack of moral fibre. You should scour the land for toothpaste that is still sold in foil tubes. Then brush your teeth regularly until the tube is used up. Then cut the tube open ( an adult can help you with this). Wash thoroughly. Wash the tube as well. Snip out a piece of foil double the width of the flag you need. Fold it in half around the flag pole and attach. Paint in suitable gaudy and unhistorical colours. Enjoy the fruits of your labout and bask in the admiration of your friends. |

You stick with the toothpaste, I'll stick with the cava bottle tops

It is only cheating if you claim the work as your own. |

Wash thoroughly. Wash the tube as well. Nice one, 20thmaine. :) |

So long as you did not procreate with said banner, then no, it isn't cheating. |

Well – since most of the flags I am currently doing are elaborate SYW banners – No! Plus, I like to think of it as helping employment in these tough times |

I'd only say that it was cheating if you printed out a banner with the design of a ruler on it to measure movement rates with :) |

Well, like SOME commercial sources, you can always just photoshop someone else's work, then call it your own (errors and all). THEN you are cheating

I don't create any of the minis I paint. |

Great answers as usual! I love the TMP boards
. This was great: "So long as you did not procreate with said banner, then no, it isn't cheating." Which was timely because I was planning on taking out the King's Colors for Valentine's Day!!!! DZT

No way, I did not go to art school. I can't paint flags. |

Actually even procreating with a particular banner wouldn't necessarily be 'cheating.' Only if you or the banner are already in a relationship with another is it 'cheating.' Otherwise you are merely 'playing the field.' |
