I'm about to start off a campaign set somewhere in the era around the War of Austrian Succession and the Seven Years War.

The way it is to be run is that all the map movements will be sent by each player to a couple of blokes in New York via email. They will assess what is going on, send back any intelligence reports, assess supply and various situations, and determine when battles take place.

The actual battles will be fought out here in Adelaide utilising my armies and terrain.

It is quite possible for anyone interested to be in the campaign even thought they don't live in Adelaide, and hand over to us here to actually fight out the battles.

If anyone would like to run a country, please let me know.

We have.

Prussia with allied small states….already taken.
Russia…..already taken.
Austria….
France…. (Including Canada and French colonial America)…and occasionally those pesky Jacobite's.
Spanish/Neapolitan alliance…….with some small Italian states.
Kingdom of Piedmont Savoy/ Sardinia…..
British/Hanover……..(Including British colonial America)
Sweden…………
Saxony/Poland & Imperial Kreis army…..
Ottoman Empire…..

Battles will be fought out using Carnage and Glory II. Campaign system will be an agreed upon combination used by the referees but how they assess things should not concern the players because all they have to do is move the forces according to the map.

Something like the games Richard Watts over in Agema runs then?

I'm up for it. Bags me the Ottoman Empire!

Brad Jenison10 Feb 2012 12:12 a.m. PST

I'd be willing to give it a try, France would be my preference or Saxony might be interesting. Are you saying the Reichsarmee would be part of the Saxon's or are they with the Austrians?

Brad

Mal Wright Fezian10 Feb 2012 12:16 a.m. PST

The Saxons and Reichsarmee are a single command.

I'm not familiar with that game, so I dont know. Its something a few of us dreamt up last year.

The Ottoman Empire is free. I will put you down for it.

What a grand idea. I would like Sweden!

Du kan sedan överbefälhavare. grin

Brad Jenison10 Feb 2012 3:44 a.m. PST

I would play either France or Saxony whatever is open

Mal Wright Fezian10 Feb 2012 3:44 a.m. PST

BTW timurilank….in all the games we have fought, my Swedes have proved to be solid and very tough!

Mal Wright Fezian10 Feb 2012 3:46 a.m. PST

OK Brad. You will be Saxony. France was taken a while ago.

You will need to contact me on my own email.

timurilank10 Feb 2012 4:41 a.m. PST

Hello Mal,

Sent you an email to your listed address and the Swedes will continue the tradition.

Cheers,

Mal Wright Fezian10 Feb 2012 6:58 a.m. PST

Wow! There has been a great response. It may be possible to declare some extra players as commanders for each nation that has more than one army in the field. That would let a lot more people take part.

The Dutch Republic…why do they always forget the Dutch Republic…

:)

I'm willing to join the campign if there's still room ;)

abdul666lw10 Feb 2012 10:11 a.m. PST

Monaco! Was Monaco already there?
Andorra was, I'm sure.
And what about Liechtenstein? It would be 'cool' to rule a fiscal haven! And nobody even invades it, since everybody has secret numbered accounts there evil grin

Last time I was involved in such campaign (some 25-30 years ago, no e-mails by then old fart) I led the Eastern Roman Empire(*) to total destruction in less than a campaign year, so I'll better sit on the fence and watch (and I'll watch!).
--
*: as the umpire, Phil Barker did NOT supported my R&D program on this mysterious black powder from the East, nor my decision to raise a large and expensive Amazon Guard – but actually these were mere details, not the explanation of my strategical failures grin

Seriously does not such campaign deserve a forum, or at least a blog of its own? Including the web equivalent of Tony Bath's campaign Journal for Hyboria?

mghFond10 Feb 2012 11:06 a.m. PST

Yes, be sure to keep us informed on the progress of the campaign, I would love to read about it, Mal.

The Pied Piper10 Feb 2012 11:52 a.m. PST

Britain/Hanover please, Mal.

warren bruhn10 Feb 2012 12:47 p.m. PST

Sounds like this game covers the whole of Europe. What map is being used?

For a more limited operations area, the maps in Maria and Friedrich from Histogame are extremely good. Beautiful operational road nets in those games.

The Dutch Republic…why do they always forget the Dutch Republic…

Indeed not forgotten. But at present we only have a navy to represent them, not an army. But I'm trying to raise one.

The same goes for Denmark.

Mal Wright Fezian10 Feb 2012 6:20 p.m. PST

What map is being used?

The wonderful Murat series available on line.

Mal Wright Fezian10 Feb 2012 6:27 p.m. PST

OK.
ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE IN IT….MUST….confirm by sending me an email at…

mgwright@bigpond.net.au

I will then add you to the list of players.

There has been so much interest in this that we are now in the happy situation that with a few more, we will be able to have some field army commanders for the countries that have more than one army, as well as a national commander.

So if anyone is interested. Please contact me on the above.

Mal Wright Fezian10 Feb 2012 6:28 p.m. PST

OH…and BAVARIA is also now available.

COL Scott0again11 Feb 2012 10:17 a.m. PST

Mal
I have question on the frequency and timelines of responses. About how often wil the emails come and how rapid a response do you want from players?

Mal Wright Fezian13 Feb 2012 5:20 p.m. PST

Responses within a couple of days. Flow of email weekly, but it may sometimes merely be an update of the over all situation.

Jeroen7221 Feb 2012 10:42 a.m. PST

Any news about this?? When it's going to kick off :)

Mal Wright Fezian21 Feb 2012 7:40 p.m. PST

I've had a few quite unexpected problems. Life can be like that!

Narratio22 Feb 2012 12:58 a.m. PST

Amazing how unexpected problems can appear, you should learn to expect them… :)

Mal Wright Fezian23 Feb 2012 7:04 a.m. PST

Yeah!
Silly me.
These unexpected things always seem to happen when they are…ummm….well….sort of….unexpected! wink

Paint Pig04 Mar 2012 11:44 p.m. PST

What do you have left there Mal, any scraps for the undeserving.
