How can anyone put Bluemoon up for a best figure award ??? Having painted some they are average at best and do not move figure design on, some older ranges eg AB and Dixon 15mm are much better figures I would like to nominate Eureka 18mm SYW, Campaign Game Minitures 15mm Napoleonics, and finally the new Ebor 28mm WSS range |
Scott MacPhee | 28 Feb 2012 11:01 a.m. PST |
MrDilly, at least two of those ranges are not from 2011, but from much earlier. I'm sorry you do not like the Blue Moon figures, but I think their ACW range is the best available in 15/18mm. |
MrDilly | 28 Feb 2012 11:13 a.m. PST |
There are new figures coming out in all 3 ranges,as for Bluemoon ACW range what about the AB range available from Eureka are they better or just cheaper ?? I would also like to mention Warfare Miniatures inparticular their Jacobite Cavalry, which are excellent, just wish they were in 15mm |

Since the topic is "pick the best historical range" and not the "I don't like Blue moon figures"topic I will then openly show that I have an agenda and put my vote down for all the Blue moon ranges even though all the other ranges do look mighty fine. Regards Russ Dunaway |
Scott MacPhee | 28 Feb 2012 1:40 p.m. PST |
MrDilly, yes, I think the Blue Moon Civil War figures are BETTER than the AB Civil War figures. I own many of both, have painted hundreds of both, and think the Blue Moon range is much better. If you want to nominate figures, go to the thread for that: TMP link |
MrDilly | 29 Feb 2012 3:35 a.m. PST |
It is NOT a case of I don't like Bluemoon figures, I just believe that there are better figures out in the market at the moment. |
Old Glory | 29 Feb 2012 1:11 p.m. PST |
Then MrDilly vote for the ranges you think are the best and do not suppose to tell other people their suggestions are invalid --obviously there are people who think the Blue moon are the best. I also think the Blue Moon napoleonics are way better then the AB regardless of price (this is coming from someone who cast AB for some years)--Yet I do not point out to the people who like AB how wrong they seem to be. Why was it, of all the companies listed on here you single out only Blue Moon to disagree with -- do you belive all the ranges that were nominated to be "the best"? I could be wrong but it leads me to suspect that you have some agenda or someone has grown worried and resorted to the old "Slander in marketing" trick? Regards Russ Dunaway |

What does it mean to "move figure design on"? Let me finish polishing this apple of
Blue Moon's Azande-like natives for Darkest Africa range. I don't know if they were the best of the year. I didn't buy that many newer sculpts but those were my favorite
and the best of those I got. |

I'm so sorry, I do apologise, I forgot the rules, it won't happen again ! I have no hidden agenda, I just buy and paint figures. |

I'll second this nomination
Empress Miniatures "New Zealand Wars" 28mm metal range. Unusual, well-sculpted, characterful, accurate. Although I do like Empress Miniatures' "17th Lancers at Ulundi", and the Ebor WoSS, too! |

Y'all are thinking WAY too small. All the King's Men 54mm AWI line is the best and AFFORDABLE(contrary to popular opinion) alternative to midget-type wargaming miniatures! lol I DO have an agenda
.paint more figures already!!! Steve Miller DFW Irregulars |

Were the Pro Gloria Miniatures produced in 2011? |

Fife and drum AWI. They are very tasty. |

Were the Pro Gloria Miniatures produced in 2011? I believe some of their first castings were offered then. Renaissance civilians, etc. |
custosarmorum | 24 Dec 2012 7:13 p.m. PST |
I would also cast my vote for the excellent Fife and Drum range -- beautifully cast and well-proportioned! |
Tumbleweed | 25 Dec 2012 7:56 a.m. PST |
As a manufacturer with extensive experience sculpting and casting, I vote for the Empress Miniatures Zulu War range, in particular their 17th Lancers at Ulundi, as shown above. The Pro Gloria Renaissance range is also exquisite. It is unfortunate that some people have to spend all their time bragging about their own ranges and can't enjoy the art of their rivals. |

The Pro Gloria Landsknecht are one of my favourites. Also the 18mm naval range from Capitan Miniatures (now almagated with Warmodelling) I find very special. |
