Today's Poll Suggestion for the 2011 TMP Awards is for the Best Individual Historical Figure.

A "individual figure" is any figure that impressed you.
It can be a figure sold as a character like a 6mm Robert E Lee, a particular figure that stood out, the Kettle Drummer in the War of Jenkins Ear Bavarian Horse Grenadier command pack, or a vignette like "Patton doing Walkies with William".
It can be in any scale, or size.
It can be metal, plastic, resin, anything that is a solid physical opject.

Finally, it must have first gone on sale, anywhere in the world, in the calendar year 2011.

To make it to the Round One Poll, a "figure" must be nominated on this thread. It will do no good to complain that your favorite figure is not listed if it has not been nominated.
I cannot help you if you have "Poll Suggestions" turned OFF. grin
So, let's nominate a ton of fgures.

Oh, by the way, give Dear Editor a break and provide a link so we can see it. *grin

Cavalcade Wargames French and Indian War figures. Sorry, these step outside the box and give the figures snowshoes. Maybe limiting, maybe incredibly creative. I painted some for each side and really liked them.

Baueda, 15mm Norman Milites charging woth lance underarm. For a single figure nomination, call it the one in the middle of this photo with his lance pointed downwards to skewer a foot soldier.

John did say that this was for

Best Individual Historical Figure
at the start or are you all just trying to Bleeped text him off? If so, keep up the good work. miniMo has the right idea.

The Foot Guards figures in Der Alte Fritz's new "Fife & Drum" 28/30mm AWI range. Nice sculpting AND the first time anyone had made this particular figure (certainly in this size – Peter Pig might just have beaten him to it in 15mm).

I think the issue may be historical figures are normally sold in packs so perhaps pick one of the figures out of a pack or is it limited to single miniatures as sold only?

PEOPLE!
This is for BEST INDIVIDUAL FIGURE!

Please pay arttention.

NEXT WEEK, I will be asking for RANGES.

Thus, just about every RANGE nominated today is invalid.
Submit them again NEXT WEEK when I solicit nominations for RANGES.

I swear, we did not have this problem last year. Has the standard of literacy gone down that much in one year? grin

I WILL allow ONE PACK out of a range…. And I feel dirty allowing that, like I am giving in to the mob.

John the OFM08 Feb 2012 7:19 a.m. PST

I will thus allow KSmyth, because vhe is picking out the snowshoe guy.
I will allow the Bob Murch Highland Piper.
I will allow the Fife and Drum Foot Guards, since they are part of a range.
Ditto the Baueda milites, because he singled out a figure.
For the ACW generals, pivck a guy.

As for the Marines and War of 1812, sorry. Try next week. They are a range.

essayons708 Feb 2012 7:35 a.m. PST

I nominate the US Special Forces sniper miniature (a free giveaway with purchase of AAG's Enduring Freedom module) made by Empress miniatures.

epturner08 Feb 2012 7:35 a.m. PST

John;
You can take ANY of those individual figures within those ranges and I'll happily nominate them.

Knuckleduster's stuff is tops.

Eric

You can take ANY of those individual figures within those ranges…

That's YOUR job. grin
I am not familiar with the range, so pick one, your favorite.

epturner08 Feb 2012 8:42 a.m. PST

You darn well will be once I'm done converting you to the Joys of Doodle Bashing in 1812…

The GLORIOUS Lower Canadian (useful for Upper Canadian) Militia Skirmish Command Officer (and bugler) figures are wonderful.

Look for them at a battlefield in the Michigan Territory near you…

Eric

John the OFM08 Feb 2012 9:00 a.m. PST

There. Was that so difficult? grin

Derek H08 Feb 2012 9:44 a.m. PST

Hugh Jarce, the free figure given away with pre-orders of I Aint Been Shot Mum 3.

epturner08 Feb 2012 9:55 a.m. PST

John;
Yes. I'll bring Sam Adams in a bottle, just for that.

I thought this figure of the Roman General was very nice:

Ignore the warhound. The general has that worn down look and when painted just struck me as brilliant.
