Finished off a few selections of Orcs and things for use in an 18th Century campaign.

Note that I have modified the painting style for the Orcs along the way. First batch was green with traditional highlighting – quite time consuming, and not that effective. Second batch is green with woodgrain stain – much simpler at this scale.

This campaign is predominantly Seven Years War linear warfare, with minor witchcraft involved. Whilst the bulk of the armies fight in a civilised and enlightened fashion, it is possible in the campaign terms to bring in allied forces based on HoTT armies.

Civilised warfare is conducted using pretty much vanilla ATKM rules. When civilised units contact Barbaric units (such a 24AP incursion of Orcs such as these), then the line regiments, cavalry and artillery are translated into HoTT elements for combat.

Yet to get up to that point on the table, but thats the theory anyway – should be like playing 2 separate games at once on the same table.

Anyway, hope you enjoy looking at the Orc hordes – several more HoTT armies on the way to invade this 18th C campaign :)

I like the way you think.

A pity there are not more fantasy races with firearms.

Intriguing and exciting!
Looks like Colonial wargaming – looking eagerly forward to enjoy further developments.

@Lentulus

In 28mm its not very difficult to arm them. I've equipped both Orcs and wolfmen with muskets recently.

Still it would be swell not to do the work oneself.

The Flintloque range has many races covered but mostly in Napoleonic uniforms.

Steve64,

The 18th c. Greenies are quite effective as Warband, Spear, Shooters, Horde and Cavalry. For the elite units of guard, I would field some Orc as Blade and Knights and yes, artillery.

Add a few Behemoths (elephants) and rockets, you have a stylized version of a Moghul Indian army.

Keep us posted.
Cheers,
