Hello

It is recorded that Henry VIII took the banner of the virgin mary to France on the 1513 campaign, can anyone offer any suggestion as to its appearance or principal colours?

The style of that banner is wrong for the 16th century – looks more like a Victorian re-construction.

19th century drawing of a flag captured int he 1420s, so, even if the colours are not qite right (I suspect a little more strident in the original) the style of the Virgin should be fairly close.

HOWEVER – thinking about it, 'THE banner of the Virgin Mary' does not have to have tthe image of the Virgin on it…

Thank you, I think i might do a combination of the two; plain background colour but detailed figure of Mary, not too dissimilar from the first few banners featured in the plates here but without the heraldry;
