early mid 60s.

Played AH Gettysburg with a neighbor kid (his father's game). For some reason we didn't completely get the rules. Kept going back and forth moving one unit each. Took forever, don't know if we ever finished a game.

Then my parents got my brother (who never has developed an interest in gaming) a copy of AH Blitzkrieg a year of two latter. Played it a few times. Had trouble finding opponents till college in 72. From there it was S&T, Seapower, and 1/76 armor. Really messed up my studies.

60s. Early to mid 60s.

Starting off with board games like Risk and Battle of the Little Big Horn then moving on to miniatures by 68.

I think Dover Patrol was my first late 1940s maybe as late as 1950.

Very early 80s with home brewed plastic soldier men rules, 83/84 Fighting Fantasy books then WH RPG (the white boxed set) and Runequest.

So 1980s

I always knew TMP skewed older, but wow. At some forums I feel like the old man, but here I'm the greenhorn.

Early 70's. AH's Waterloo and miniature games using Terrance Wise and Charles Grant were my first formal games.

"Late 60's – AH Stalingrad – I will never forget playing the German side for 7 hours only to lose on the last turn to a lucky Russian die roll breaking my encirclement of Moscow."

How the heck did you make it to Moscow with the Germans? Most of the time the Germans had a hard time making it to Minsk!

Oh, and me? Early to mid "60s.
