Hello,

Currently deployed overseas. Thanks to findig a source for some pre-painted troops I may get some gaming in at the local MWR once they arrive.

Obviously we can simply convert a pingpong table or pool table into our battle field, but I would like to do a little more.

Unfortunately all the modeling tools are home and time is not in abundance. If I were home I would have all my 3D buildings, trees and such.

I do have access to a color printer and card stock though. I am aware of fiddler's Green, but not really looking for anything that complex. It does not even have to be 3D.

Anyone have any sources for and 2D paper models of simple structure, fences, roads trees etc that I can print and cut out. Two sided for the buildings and fences would be preferrable.

My thought is to use a standard green blanket on a table with some books underneath for a bit of relief, but I am lacking on structures or even felt for fields and trees.

Of course free or inexpenisve is always a bonus. ;)

One last thing the troops and rules we will be test playing are 10mm.

Appreciate any ideas.

Thanks,

Aaron

When I was deployed we used string, chalk, pipe-cleaners, markers, 3x5 cards, ceramic tiles, rocks, ect. from my terrain model kit. Every good LT and CPT should have one. Of course our Armor ones were a bit more sophisticated than the infantry ones I saw… we don't have to carry ours. Hope that helps and keep your head down!

You've GOT to get in touch with Paper Terrain, by Scott Washburn… that might be RIGHT up your alley. Simple, easy, cheap. Heck, he might even give a serviceman a break for the free publicity over there!;)

Opps I see this was moved…sorry for any inconvience.

@ Lord Ashram, thanks for the link they have some nice stuff. I sent an e-mail as I am not sure how it works. Are you buying a DiY file or do they ship you a completed product?

TIA,

Best I can tell you from my days gaming out of my footlocker is be resourceful. The paper mini sites are something we didn't have so check out the links above. Here is where I start for free stuff in paper.

We used to use an army blanket, and books as you describe, along with twigs, rocks, scraps of cloth, colored paper, string etc. Anything at all to define our terrain. Good luck and stay safe.

Here's a shameless plug for our website where we have the "Idea of the Week", most of which are simple terrain projects made from miscelanea:

Honestly I don't know how the paper terrain stuff works… I am sure Scott will post sometime in this thread, if he sees it…

@ Lord Ashram, Scott was great at e-mailing me back. I am deciding what route I want to go. There models look awesome, but I have not had alot of success assembling paper models in the past especially at the small scale.
