Which historical figures would you like to see portrayed in 15mm scale?

Yesthatphil31 Jan 2012 6:05 a.m. PST

There is a crying need for good female (potentially military/potentially battlefield) leaders – from Matilda to Margaret of Anjou.

other than Joan, of course

I would second Phil's suggestion. Imagine Eleanor of Aquitaine, in her fashion, going "bald headed" at the Saracens.

Where to start, where to start?

John Lackland
Saladin
El Cid
Margaret of Anjou (seconding the above)
Louis IX
The Black Prince
Henry IV
John the Blind of Bohemia (with another figure to lead his horse)

There is a Margaret of Anjou figure available

I know of two figures sold as Saladin – Outpost and Legio Heroica.

A decent El Cid would be nice. The statues of him tend to have a big beard which doesn't often appear on figures for that time and place.

Louis IX would be good, or at least a 13th century crowned figure with no helmet. Otherwise, someone wearing a helm or even a kettle hat would do (for the one he borrowed in Egypt).

A Pope on a litter would be interesting though you'd have to be daft to want one :)

The various Low Countries leaders such as Guy of Namur would be good – dismounted with goedendag or whatever you want to call the spikey club.

MiniMo's got a good list for me, plus some Italians too, for the late medieval/early renaissance periods.

QRF (ex Feudal) do Wallace and Bruce.

The Bruce figure is really nice and based on the Bruce monument at Bannockburn.

Essex have several generic Kings like this one:

and Peter Pig:

Mako, Mirliton have a range of Italian Condottieri personalities that may be suitable or Pig Mtd Generals pack 35 or Essex MID69:

Please include an option for 'I don't play historical games.'

I'd like to see a Vlad Tepes on foot, but really I'd rather have the movie version.

Vlad Tepes is a historical figure. Just thought I'd, y'know, point that out.

The reason I suggested female personalities generally is that the majority of male warriors can be done by picking the right figure in the right armour/helmet and proceeding appropriately.

(Margaret of Anjou figure I put together as a match for Trebian's Peter Pig WotR collection)

Good to hear that there is now a Margaret of Anjou figure (that'll form the basis of a number of conversions, I'm sure) to add to the few females that can be similarly adapted. For friends, I have so far produced a Tamara (of Georgia), a Jeanne, a Matilda and a Margaret of Anjou. Plus others outside the Medieval period.

In each case the reason is either no suitable figure available or the figure that is available would be a poor match for the collection involved.

Personalities being exactly that, I suspect there would be a healthy crossover for any figures produced.

Oh, I know. But the second half of my sentence explained why it wasn't a real (historical) suggestion.
