I forgot to add that it is completely modular and you can buy extra pieces to make it any size or shape you want

That is extremely pleasent. How is it supported (I could see no flight stands but thought I might have missed them)

There are flight stands under it in the painted photos – you can only see a few of them, but it looks like two on each spur and one (maybe larger) under the core do the job. It's all resin, so the weight involved shouldn't be too bad despite the large size.

It occurs to me that kitbashing multiple sets together would let you stack two (or more) cores and have docking spars at different levels. With the right mix of flight base posts, you could have your ships designed to snug in to upper or lower tier "parking" spaces. You'd have to reinforce the upper level arms some, of course.

Glad you guys are liking this I'm getting messages from customers who bought it saying they are putting them in there games and its working great. Some of them are buying multiple sets to make them bigger but I haven't heard of stacking them , that would be awesome to see. I usually can produce one and have it mailed in a day or two so no 3-4 week wait coming from me so if you want one in your next campaign you can count on it. Just a side note are fabulous government decided to raise our shipping rates , so make your orders worth the extra charge ,and I'll try to throw in a freeby ship if I can to help you out with the shipping up charge . I appreciate the support.

The one thing I can think of that would improve this kit would be to make the docking cradles in two parts rather than one so you could vary the interior width. That way gamers could position them to fit any size hull. They obviously work well with some BSG ships, but they certainly won't fit some of the bigger or more oddly-shaped minis out there – no way are you jamming some of the larger Firestorm Armada hulls in a large cradle, for ex.

Also, it would let people lay their cradle out as a prow-and-stern gripper, with the ship docked parallel to the main station strut instead of nose-in. Little more variety that way.

Not a criticism, just something to think about when you redo the molds, or if you do an expansion set of new pieces. There's certainly room for all sorts of other widgets and sections to build with – shorter main struts with different hull detail, small "minor hub" modules so you could put at the end of struts as either cap pieces or to branch more struts off of, weapon modules, agro domes, etc, etc. Most modular station kit I've seen since GZG released their workshack way back when, with plenty of room to grow.

Current setup does seem to support his own ships, and that's no criticism, in spite of the 'Universal'. The end pads look as if they were designed to swivel to accommodate almost any bow size and shape, though, of course, the casts don't.

I'd probably just hack off the outside 'arm' of the furthest out set, and let any ship snuggle in as best it can. Or, use one arm with just a flat, perpendicular docking end…

Sorry, I forgot to ask: does the special extend to the eBay sales? Just curious.

When I was Designing this I was thinking like a Kit-Basher and thought if I had all the pieces at my disposal to accomodate any ship i would need two basic docking slip designs, the angled arm cradle(for battlestars, saucers, and such)and the straight smaller cradles. As we all do when we get something we either assemble as pictured or chop the hell out of it and make it our own. What you have available is all the means to park just about any mini from any fleet you have. Modular …..put it together any way you want…cut the arms apart and glue them in wider or two and three in a row and park Armada big boys in sideways….Cheif Lackey had a great suggestion …stack'em.
I would be supprised if anyone assembles this the way I did.I'm a BSG guy but wanted something Fleet Guys could use too,but some mods would have to be done. The important thing is you have the parts and your not digging for your own bits to finish a model you paid good money for.The long and short of it is if I made every piece for every ship for every system it would be a 300 piece kit at about $350 USD…doest work for me as a gamer and I know it doesnt work for you. Instead hopefully its got enough parts for you guys to work with at a affordable price and I'm always open to suggestions to make specialized parts for different fleets.

Also Yes the special does apply to ebay sales, but if you go to my site menacingminatures.com you can get it cheaper than ebay.My prices are always higher at ebay due to all the fees ebay charges sellers to use their site, good for exposure and thats it , but there are still some customers that prefer to buy ebay only(not sure why?)so I keep them on there at least once a month.

I hear that. The exposure is worth the fees (especially with listings being nearly/entirely free now) but why some people just will not buy direct off a website or via email ordering is beyond me. If it's a security issue, PayPal's protection works the same on ebay or off.

Sorry for the necropost, but is this guy still around? Stumbled across this post while looking for orbital shipyards. His website seems to be down.

Brother Jim29 Nov 2015 7:46 a.m. PST

I don't think he is. I thought I recognized the name from Starship Combat Forum and just searched there. He hasn't been active there since 09 Nov 2012.

billclo29 Nov 2015 8:06 a.m. PST

Okay. I will look into the Ravenstar shipyard more then.

Ravenstar29 Nov 2015 2:05 p.m. PST

We (Ravenstar) will be adding our ship yard along with new parts to our new Web site in Dec.
