I was recently gifted with a couple of Pico Armor Hind Commander packs, and I was contemplating my Third Worlders' color scheme. Would it be all that unusual for a Third World force to have bright, loud color schemes for their helicopters?

This was the kind of stuff I was thinking about:

Yes, it would be unusual.

Third World countries get their aircraft second hand of via mil exchange programs, and don't generally have the money to repaint them.

But then again, your game, do what you want.

I can't see it serving any useful purpose on a vehicle that large, but it's your third world country so why not!

China, while not being third world, have some pretty loud camo schemes.

About one minute in you'll see some blue vehicles… after the whitewall tires :)

In Combat Aircraft magazine, the news briefs often have photos of celebratory one-off paint schemes even for some of the more minor nations – 75th anniversary of the Peruvian Air Force, that sort of thing. Most though tend to be the airbrushed animal style, not funky cammo.

Those loud colors can have a legitimate reason to be on the aircraft. Just call them the anti-corrosion undercoat that was revealed when the paint job on the top was peeled off – a common occurrence when maintenance is lacking.

Cool Transformers. Think I have that set too.

I can't find the link but someone in the real world painted a Hind D as a hawk. Best camouflage I have ever seen.

Actually, come to think of it, I remember reading of MiG-17 camo in Vietnam – pilots reported seeing green, brown, blue and purple camo, so why not? And I've seen that same photo James mentioned. Enjoy!

Well, I'm convinced… and I've seen the Hind D photo as well.

In 3mm it might not show much, but their basecoat will be gaudy.

Except the Hind is still in eath tones for the most part…

Another good one is the Marine chopper:

But again, in earth tones.
