We are seeing a increase in popularity with the period of the League of Augsburg, War of Spanish Succession and Great Northern War in terms of gaming figures and rules in 6mm, 18mm, 25/28mm.

However not much for the Historical Miniature / Traditional Toy Soldier collector in 54mm/60mm.

I would like to see a Great Northern War Line in 60mm.

It seems most 54mm/60mm companies just push on with the same old Zulus, British vrs French Napoleonic and World War Two lines. It's nice to see John Jenkins doing French and Indian War and 1812.

Still, Marlborough's or Charles XII's troops in 60mm would be nice.

Amazing how something that enters the realm of 'collectable' becomes so expensive! Wow! 11 pounds for an unpainted figure! I thought that the Inquisitor stuff that GW put out was expensive! Now I know why 54mm has dropped off for gaming so much…

My 54mm stuff is all inexpensive plastic.

WW1 and FPW are more than adequately catered for, as is the ACW, Boer War, Boxer Rebellion, Crimea along with the Colonial, WW2, Napoleonics mentioned above etc.

Armies in Plastic cover the Seven Years War, which could presumably stretch to WSS.

As with all these things, it depends how fussy you are. I do a lot of carving, head swaps etc.

54mm is a great way to wargame. The biggest problem with plastics is the chipping. They still are great for gaming. Easy to see. A challenge to base. A great way to create huge armies, depending upon the scale.

Sorry but the SYW really can't go back to WSS unless you do a lot of lace removal.

I wish the 54mm world did these periods but the real collectibles will cost a lot more than 11 pounds. Look at First Legion for Napoleonics – $55 USD or more per figure (fully painted)! Now, that being said these are absolutely beautiful but you need really deep pockets if you want to game in this scale. There are other 54mm companies that have figures nearly as good that cost less but you still need those deep pockets regardless.

Yes, GNW/WSS period has gotten short shrift. Besides the costly Tradition kits, only two things come to mind at the moment:

Tehnolog's plastic 54mm GNW Russians. link

Haven't seen these personally, but common on eBay. They generally go for ~ 10.00 a box give or take a couple of bucks. Factor in the shipping cost from Russia or the Ukraine and they aren't a great deal, but not terrible either.

Peipp Miniaturen, metal "45mm" WSS figures:
peipp-miniaturen.de

Go: zum Shop/45mm Figuren/ "Prinz Eugen und seine Zeit-1703" and also "Preussische Armee" for several more.

I have these and they run big: beefy beer-drinking Germans and smallish but stocky horses, they mix well with 54mm figures. The mounted generals are great. 5 euros foot, 13.50 horse ("unmontiert" = unassembled). The Peipps speak English and take Paypal. Quite reasonably priced for what you get but no question assembling any decent sized armies would be a pricey proposition.

Regards,
Steve

Maybe because there isn't a separate 60mm LoA/WSS/GNW Board on TMP ?

Irregular Miniatures do a line of larger League of Augburg figures--42mm if I recall correctly.
