I found a castle playset on sale at the neighborhood drugstore. It should work well for 28mm gaming:

I always worry if the plastic will accept painting

Krylon plastic paint (flat color)seems do work as a basecoat. |

Ehhh
not sure it works
? There is a certain level of cheesiness that is acceptable, I think, and this guy may step over that line a touch:) |

Grey spray-paint and a black wash and you'll be good to go! |

I think it might look quite good with out the extra walls and built into a pink foam cliff as some sort of mountain stronghold

Painted up I think it would look fine, and you can't beat the price. |

Yep, wash well, prime with Krylon plastic spray, spray paint it grey, wash a little black, a little light grey drybrush for effect, similar for the roof and door in brown and brick red
I think you have something there. Now the catapult? Definite candidate for the bits box |

Since its cheap, get another one, put them together, and bingo! 4 walls. |

Oops! Went to your site. You have 4 walls! |

It doesn´t look too bad. The brickwork detail looks ok. How thick are the walls? just a thin printed sheet of plastic? Cheers paul |

I think that will paint up nice. I would go with a black Krylon basecoat then brush a couple of progressively lighter greys over it. A nice dark wash and some highlighting later, and they'll be knocking down your door. |

You could fill it full of of plaster of paris and then once set cut away the plastic. You could do this multiple times to get additional walls or create damaged areas. |

Thanks everyone! I'll primer it, then paint it. PB, the walls are about an inch thick. They're made of that real soft plastic that folds when you squeeze it--like those miniature plastic souvenir footballs. |

Great Find! Can you tell me what drugstore you found it at? Also, do you have a pic of the interior of the walls? |

An inch thick
sounds ok. I know the type of plastic..shouldn´t be too difficult to paint. Cheers paul |

I found this playset at Walgreen's. The insides of the walls look pretty much the same as the outside, but with doors instead of windows molded into them. |

Paint it with PVA first if you are worried. Same goes for soft plastic figures. PVA is great. |

Just wanted to post that I found one of these on sale at my local Walgreens for 10 bucks. It may date all the way back to christmas time, but apparently some stores still have them. |

cheap terrain is good terrain! And the Krylon paint with 'Fusion technology' is the modeler's friend. Sticks to every kind of plastic, even if you don't clean it first. Then other paint sticks to the Krylon. |

That's what I use for all my soft plastic and it works great! Also, the Krylon Camo line now is labeled as having "Fusion Technology". As well as the great browns and greens, it's flat black is the flattest I've seen in hardware store paints. Now I've just got to find the right glue to stick vinyl brick and cobblestone to the soft plastic
