Hi

It is Joyeux Noel (Widescreen) (2006)

amazon description

Joyeux Noel captures a rare moment of grace from one of the worst wars in the history of mankind, World War I. On Christmas Eve, 1914, as German, French, and Scottish regiments face each other from their respective trenches, a musical call-and-response turns into an impromptu cease-fire, trading chocolates and champagne, playing soccer, and comparing pictures of their wives. But when Christmas ends, the war returns

I am sure I will be corrected, but isnt this based on a true story? And if I recall after the cease fire ended they had a very hard time shooting and assaulting each others lines, to the extent that they were eventually reassigned to other areas.

There was no problem assaulting each others lines once Grand Moff Kaiser Bill started a rumor that Jar Jar Binks was in the other trench.

Cptn Blackadder was never offsides during the soccer match

Blackadder may never have been offside, but he certainly scored some own goals – Speckled Jim anyone?

Great movie. I really enjoyed it.

In 1915 a day long artillery barrage was ordered to keep the troops in the trenches and not be friendly to each other at Christmas.
