I'm trying to find some typical Normandy village houses to use in a 6mm game. I had a look at this earlier thread from TMP ( TMP link ) and thought it should be easy – but that doesn't seem to be the case. I can't find much out there at all – Najewitz do several nice and very useful buildings ( church, farmhouse, railway station ) , but nothing you'd really count as a typical village house. Timecast, some really lovely models but nothing Norman. GHQ ditto. I had assumed until I started looking that Normandy would be very well covered, but that doesn't seem to be the case – am I missing something ? And before someone mentions them, I'm after resin or metal buildings – nothing card, thanks. |

Some of the American ones here do rather well as Normandy: link American row of 2 houses for example. Maybe Irregular also?
link Michael. |

Yep, that's good, it's a start ! I need around 20-30 buildings, so I'm hoping for at least half-a-dozen different models I can spread around. BTW Michael, a package will be off to you in the morning

Wooohooo thanks Tony. Maybe you can use the bits that make up the Hougoumont model too. |

Hovels do some (also look at the Russian range for thatched houses). MagisterMilitum have the JR range which has a couple of farms and bits that could be used. |

Thanks, Rob – unfortunately thatched buildings are out, village buildings are generally stone with slate roofs |

unfortunately thatched buildings are out Umm, no. Certainly not on the coastal strip at the beaches but inland there were (and still are) many chaumieres dating back to pre Napoleonic times. I have stayed in a few of them.
Google Chaumiere or Colombage and there are loads of images. |

I know that there are thatched buildings in Normandy (I've also been there several times) but I'm modelling a particular place (near the coast) which is all slate roofs – I took plenty of photos while I was there. |

Thanks everyone for the replies – I haven't come across much I can use, although there are one or two gems. I suspect I'll have to go down the scratchbuilt route. I really thought there would be more available. |

Angle Barracks, I always see your site mentioned when I'm looking for ww2 bits for 6mm but whenever I follow a link it is always dead. Do you only do the sci-fi bits now as that's all i can find on your site? |
