Did it even air in the United States? Sounds too dark for American 60's television…

Watched my favourite episode – Act of Kindness (the one that actually involves several wargames imdb.com/title/tt0535554 ) – on my iPad only last week!

Cardinal Hawkwood11 Jan 2012 12:44 a.m. PST

I saw them all when originally aired..

Derek H11 Jan 2012 12:57 a.m. PST

No, but I've reserved them on Lovefilm.

Remember it from when it was first broadcast.

I fondly remember when they were originally aired but have not seen the DVDs or even known they were available.

The DVDs started a staggered release last yead (IIRC), monochrome years, colour years, wet job – and then all boxed together into 1 mega box.

The good news is that they are now pretty cheap – the set I paid £30.00 GBP for is now available for ~£15. Wet Job is ~£5 now.

The film has been available on and off for years and is a snip at a couple of quid. Has my favourite "Callan gives the tail the slip" sequence – filmed the back o' Charing Cross Station.

I was but a rosy-cheeked nipper during '2'… too young to follow the plots, but loved the intro and the atmos.

The movie rocked. Came out at a time when literally anything on Brit tv was considered fair game for a low-budget, three-episodes-cobbled-together movie version.
"Callan" was about the only worthwhile thing to come out of that genre.

I hadn't heard of 'Wet Job'… going to hunt that out.

A superb series, I was too young when it was originally aired, but caught it later on Gold TV.
I think that it's 2 & 4 for me (guessing series 3 & 4 have now been rebadged as "The Colour Years").
I'll pick up 1 & 3 when I finally move into larger premises (hopefully later this year).

And I still don't own a TV.

Quick fix: if you fancy seeing what the fuss is about, the movie-length episode – an extended version of "A Magnum for Schneider" – is on Youtube:
