Actually, a friend of mine provoked a riot at UC Berkley, and then had the brilliant idea to pick up a CS grenade in his overshirt and 'dust' the entire crowd with it. He was a completely 'innocent' civilian. To be fair, that situation was already on the edge of boiling over, cops had gas masks and gas launchers at the ready. He claims he heckled once, and got a brick/rock thrown at him for his trouble. That's when the fun started. |

Replace the swastika with a peace sign, then. |

Hi Abdul, I can cite the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, and the United States, post-1984, as three losing/declining states that employed the extremes of political correctness near or before their downfall. Please cite the number of winning nations that have done the same? I am obviously completely missing your point. Thanks. PC |

If the cult of 'political correctness' leads to a society where 'unconventional' opinions are better not expressed, then what 'winning' state could you cite that does not impose 'political correctness'? Certainly not China? |

Political correctness is something of a sham. Of course it exists, but you can expect your government to lie to you. Also, prevailing wisdom is an artifact much like automobile makes. Anthropologists have long known that a society has a 'correct' way to make an artifact like a pot. We can see that same 'correctness at work in automotive styles, by comparing cars of a single maker over a large span of years. The same thing applies to ideas. There is a commonly accepted wisdom. Since it is a model, it is not accurate. Hopefully it is more accurate then the current wisdom it replaced. But the politically incorrect views one espouses are not accurate either, they are a model, too. One can only hope to be more accurate then the prevailing standards of 'political correctness' and realise that if your divergent views become accepted, they will form the new standard of 'political correctness'. amen Now, how do I get my not swastika flags for 28mm? |

"Certainly not China?" I'll have to concede China.
Would it be safer then to define the stereotypical nation that embraces political correctness as somewhat if not totally totalitarian, the United States not withstanding?

The penalties for being politically incorrect in the present US are somewhat different than they were in Nazi Germany. |

That is true. A coalition of victorious powers has not uncovered more about violations of the US constitution and international law, without due process, than has been publicized to date. |
