I don't mean generic sci-fi, for example, but specific armies; space marines (the big ones) and epic scale. I don't know what compells me to duplicate armies, how many do you have?

Saxondog09 Dec 2011 8:52 p.m. PST

I have Saxons in 15mm and 25mm but for different uses. For skirmish games I use 25 and for larger battles I use 15.

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut09 Dec 2011 8:54 p.m. PST

Early Libyans for DBA. I did up a 15mm army as Libyan Amazons using Museum's 15mm nude female line, now I find myself doing the same thing in 28mm with Shadowforge. Except the latest list requires a LOT more figures (by DBA standards, anyways,) I should have done it the other way around lol!

Dave Gamer09 Dec 2011 8:58 p.m. PST

I have ACW in 6mm, 15mm, 25mm and 54mm – and I use them all (or plan to use them) for mass battles, not skirmishes.

dglennjr09 Dec 2011 9:00 p.m. PST

Too many.

ACW (US & CSA) in 15mm, 28mm and 54mm
Moderns (US) in 20mm, 28mm and 54mm
AWI (US and British) in 15mm and 28mm
Napoleonics (British, French, Prussian) in 15mm and 28mm (soon)
Colonial/Zulus (British and Zulus) in 10mm and 28mm
Zombies in 20mm and 28mm
Star Wars (Rebels, Imperials, Clones, Separatists) in 10mm, 25mm, 28mm and fleet scale
BSG (Colonial and Cylon) in 28mm and fleet scale
Car Wars, 6.5mm+/- and 20mm

greatwhitezulu09 Dec 2011 10:09 p.m. PST

Hoplites, Persians, Zulus, Moghuls in 6mm, 15mm and 28mm
Late Romans in 15mm & 28mm

WW2 in 12mm and 20mm

French Wars of Religion in 15mm and 28mm

galvinm09 Dec 2011 10:39 p.m. PST

Romans, Greeks, Vikings, Celtic Napoleonic, ACW all in 10/15/20/25mm.

Other armies in more than one scale, but these I have in all the scales I can see well enough to paint.

Pretty sure I even have some 54mm for each around somewhere.

Dave Knight09 Dec 2011 10:54 p.m. PST

I stick to one scale per period, although naval and air models are different.

Trying to cover the whole of human military history is hard enough. To do it in multiple scales?

Utter madness

FPW in 6 and 28mm
WWII in 6 and 20mm
TYW/ECW in 15 and 28mm
Napoleonics in 15 and soon 28mm

Tally Ho!

GarrisonMiniatures10 Dec 2011 3:07 a.m. PST

Egyptians 6mm, 20mm, 25mm
Assyrians 15mm, 20mm, 25mm
Persians 15mm, 20mm,25mm
Greeks 15mm, 20mm, 25mm
WW2 15mm/1/100 and 20mm

The 6mm Egyptians I bought ready painted at a Bring and Buy.

20mm I started with in the old Minifigs/Garrison era, then went back to when I bought Garrison and could get the figures again :)

15mm was an experiment based on my son thinking 25mm were a bit old fashioned – it didn't really last.

25mm was post 20mm, pre 15mm, post 15mm, then pre 25mm.

WW2 generally represents plastic 20mm and metal 15mm.

They're sizes, not scales :)

That's pedantry, not reality.

Language and meanings change and are decided by people, not dictionaries.

Cold Steel10 Dec 2011 5:15 a.m. PST

On my painting table right now are SYW Prussians in 10, 15 and 28 mm, as well as WW2 in 10, 15 and 20 mm.

ECW 15 & 25mm.

zippyfusenet10 Dec 2011 7:46 a.m. PST

Bite me.

I have 15mm SYW armies for big battles, mostly in Europe, and 25/28mm single-mounted F&IW armies for North America, mostly.

I have 15mm Napoleonic armies, that are period-creeping back to the 1790s, and 25/28mm single-mounted figures for AWI through 1790s that are period-creeping up to 1812.

I have mass ACW armies in 15mm and have just started…single-mounted 25/28mm ACW, just because the figures have so much character. I think I'll build some 25mm brigade stands for Volley & Bayonet, too.

I dumped the 20mm ACW and the 20mm Biblicals in favor of the 15mm ACW and the 15mm Biblicals. I have some limits.

For WWII airplanes, though, I have major collections in both 1/300 and 1/144, as well as smaller collections in 1/120 and 1/200. But I dumped the 1/700 stuff. I've been trying to dump the 1/100 collection too, but now I hear there's going to be an Axis & Allies collectible miniatures game with pre-painted 1/100 airplanes, so must now wait and see how that turns out. I just really like airplanes.

Obsessive-compulsive? Yes, with a touch of Tourettes, you miserable ***-sucking fascist armadillo-****ing sewage-eating blow-fly ***-wipe…

sillypoint10 Dec 2011 4:10 p.m. PST

So
None, 1-3, 4-6,7+ might be the options?
I suggested this topic because I missed a box of 15mm samurai army at a bring and buy, lack of funds.
To console myself I thought of the 25mm and 10mm Samurai I already have.
