According to Andrew Kendrick, writing in White Dwarf: Ask anybody what they love about Warhammer and two things that are bound to be on their list are monsters and magic. So
what do you love about Warhammer? |

I love the Ogre Kingdom models, they are great. I think they are the best figs currently being produced by GW for the fantasy game. I like the Chaos stuff too, they have some really interesting and characterful monstrosities in there and I love that you can get so many of their figs in plastic. |

Nothing. I love my wife and daughter. I do not love a fictional game setting. Can't say I like much about it anymore either, though I did about 20 years ago when I played WFB and WFRP |
Garand | 08 Dec 2011 1:30 p.m. PST |
Talking strictly about the fantasy game, I love that I can get a game occasionally where I don't have to supply all the figures, and the figures themselves are usually pretty nice. Expand this to 40K, then all of the above, plus the fluff
Damon. |

I used to love that is was a fun, silly, over the top fantasy game. Now I love that I can still play older editions. |

I've only played 3rd ed. but I was never impress with the rules. I do like the minis though. Dwarves are my fave with goblins as a close second. I'm not a huge fan of the Elves like I was when I was a kid but the Wood Elf Wardancers were cool. I'm more of an Oldhammer fan, "the only army lists you need are your own." |

Funny those are the two things I could really do without in Warhammer. My armies are usually all about troops and some warmachines. |
CeruLucifus | 08 Dec 2011 2:40 p.m. PST |
No shortage of opponents, high quality figures. Monsters and magic only in that I like to play fantasy and without that it's just alternate history. Okay and other races too. |
Puster | 08 Dec 2011 2:43 p.m. PST |
Actually magic and monsters are what I dislike in WFB. I like the fantasy setting, and used to play Empire in the 90ies – but the discrepancy between the numbers (and efforts to build and paint) of units vs. single monsters actually made me abort the game. |

I can go to a town miles away in uk or another country and play a game in their shops. Also agree on the ''No shortage of opponents''1 |

I started war gaming with Warhammer/40,000. Still play, not as often as I used to. The kids have grown up. I think the price is making them unpopular in the gaming world. Paul |

The hype. I love good over-the-top hyperbole advertisements about how this or that figure is the "Best. Figure. Evar!" |
RobH | 08 Dec 2011 3:36 p.m. PST |
That it has been around long enough to spawn a huge selection of figures that can be used in other much better games. Also that without Warhammer (or 40K) there could not have been Mordheim (or Space Hulk) |

Like Angel Barracks, I love my wife and children. I like goblin fanatics a great deal, and playing giants as well. Black orks in heavy armor with two hand weapons are very nice too. Ok, orksies. |

The world they've created. I've been working on a Mordheim/Empire in Flames adventure campaign for my group and have been having a blast. I also enjoy the earlier (3rd edition/Realms of Chaos era) chaos figures. Tons of character. A little goofy in comparison to the newer stuff, but much, much more endearing to me. |

"Monsters and magic" The assumption that these are on everyone's list goes a long way toward explaining GW's product line releases over the last two years. |

Ask anybody what they love about Warhammer and two things that are bound to be on their list the smell of stale sweat and shouty enthusiastic virgins. I used to love it, then realised it was simply 'cos my opponents were great guys and I could have just as much fun playing other things as well. Not played it in about 5 years now. Pat |

Gotta go with the fluff. It was best refined in Mordheim, but when it's done right, it's a pretty nice setup for adventures. |

I love the easy to modify plastic figures. These days everything is plastic. I'm almost annoyed when I deal with a hard to modify metal fig nowadays. Agree with above, love the Ogre Kingdoms stuff, it's so great I've had an army of them for almost a year without actually painting or playing them. Just can't live without them. Along those lines, any of the figures that don't take themselves so seriously are wonderful. This lets out all the various elf incarnations, and most of the chaos stuff because it lacks the fun personality of most of the orcs, goblins, ogres, etc. |
