Any good books that cover the Fenian Raids? I have the Osprey, anything else out there? |

I would imagine that even an Osprey would take longer to read than the invasions actually lasted. |

The Last Invasion of Canada The Fenian Raids 1866-1870 Hereward Senior Dundurn Press 1991 A very good general military history of the Fenian Raids. I think the Battle of Ridgeway would make an excellent subject for an Osprey Raid book! |

The invasions happened over a period of four years, there were "Fenian scares" across Canada for over a decade after that! You could read Proust in that time! I've been wanting to put on a game of the battle of Ridgeway for years but I can't find suitable figures for the Anglo-Canadian forces or Fenians in civilian garb. |

Glengarry: Wouldn't Civil War confederates in light kit do for Fenians? For the Canadians, i was thinking of the Battleline Maori range. |

Wouldn't Civil War confederates in light kit do for Fenians? For some, civil war veterans. Civil war figures in kepi and short jackets woul do well for the uniformed Fenians. But most of (albiet few) pictures I've seen of Fenians they are dressed in obviously civilian clothes, sack coats, waistcoats, slouch and "bowler" hats, caps. For the Canadians, i was thinking of the Battleline Maori range. I was considering Moari Wars figures so I'll check our Battleline. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you chaps thinking about 15mm? If so you might consider QRF Communards and Yellow Ribbon civilians or ACW Homeguard and border raiders. |

Fighting for Canada: Seven Battles, 1758-1945 Edited by Donald E. Graves This book has a good chapter on the Battle of Ridgeway. I like the OOB and maps. |

Ridgeway by Peter Vronsky is new and has excellent reviews. I haven't read it yet, but would recommend investigating it. It has proper endnotes and bibliography, always a good sign. |
