Has anyone tried making units from a vertical viewpoint rather than horizontal. If so how did you like it?

It would seem somewhat like using Kriegsspiel blocks but with more 'colour' but is it worth it?

Thanks – have you tried them – what do you think of them?

I am a big fan of the form. Great for trying rules or periods before getting into the minis, or even as an end in itself.

I have a couple of 1866 armies laid out if you would like to see/try them.

Most kind; you show them on a blog?
