Wondering what books/wargaming mags/online sources folks have used for creating interesting Vietnam scenarios.

I have some of the small unit action books on the Vietnam war suxh as Hammels "Fire in the Streets" as well as "Seven Firefights in Vietnam","Infantry in Vietnam" and West's book on USMC actions. Other books/wargame books+magazine articles like this detailing actions that can be converted easily to wargame scenarios is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

Mister Drake, go online and visit the Australian War Memorial website in Canberra Australia, and check out the vietnam era, places to look for are Battalion actions including Long Tan, Coral and Balmoral. Also the Australian Army Training Team is worth a look too! I believe a country man of your visited there the other day(it was not Tiger Woods).

What size actions are you looking for Mark? We have a scenario supplement for our Company level rules, Charlie Don't Surf, called Surf's Up.

The Skirmish Campaigns Hamburger Hill book is a fabulous collection of scenarios.

Hi,
For actions using up to a platoon plus supports try the Skirmish Campaigns Elite "Hamburger Hill" book. It has eight scenarios, none of which use more than about 40 figures a side and table sizes of 3 x 2 to 6 x 4.
There are also 6 scenarios in the "Ambush Valley" Vietnam source book for "Force on Force". They cover a wide range of scenarios from an attack on a CIDG camp (on a 2 x 2 table) to an attack on a US air base during the Tet offensive (two linked scenarios on a 4 x 4 board) to a scenario featuring the Australians in a large action with tank support (on a 6 x 4 table). Figure count varies from about 16 figure to 100 figures a side (only the North Vietnamese need about 100 figures and then for only one scenario)
For company level games, "Charlie Don't Surf" is an excellent set of rules with about four generic scenario types and the scenario book for it, "Surf's Up!" is execellent too. It has 16 detailed specific scenarios of different types which could easily be scaled up or down. As written all of the scenarios need a 6 x 4 table and about 100 figures per side if you play one figure = 1 man.
Hope this helps.
All the best,
George.
