Has anyone used The Sword in Africa as a basis for Lost World type games? It seems as if it would be simple to transpose the African savannah to Conan Doyle's Lost World and the only changes which would need to be made would be the animal encounters ranging from the small velociraptors up to the large carnosaurs as well as the large herbivores and how shooting at them would be dealt with. I am aware of the Saurian Safari rules but they do not include any provision for encounters with natives which I find to be a bit lacking. |

Not yet but, that is the plan. Althouth, it will be a prehistoric fantasy world. Spells and swords rather than gun. |

I think the simple parts would be exactly as simple as you suggest. The tough part is coming up with flavorful, playable rules for big dinosaurs. Hit points are stupid. |

I love The Sword and the Flame and its variant The Sword in Africa; however, for a small investment might I suggest that the flavor may be better achieved with one of the following: Valor & Steel & Flesh is a variant on Brother Against Brother using a Victorian Science Fiction setting for battles on Mars but has rules for encounters with Dinosaurs and other critters that is not present in The Sword in Africa. The rules and miniatures were written and designed by Bob Charrette. Tooth and Claw and/or Saurian Safari, both are written by veteran game designer Chris Peers. These last two rule sets are specifically designed for quick and fun games set in a lost world of your choosing. And here is the cool deal all three rule sets and miniatures can be purchased through Brigade Games aka Lon. And no I am not an employee, family member, etc, I just like dealing with Lon at the conventions and through mail order, plus he has great stuff. |

Are you serious? The Sword and the (Magic) Wand variant? Make it a time travel or falling down the rabbit hole adventure so they can take their guns but then limit their ammunition. sky |

You might want to check out Adventures in Lost Lands from Two Hour Wargames. Not only are there dinos but encounters with natives, cavemen and modern men. The game also plays solo. It's quite fun and unpredictable. |

I would also like to see a variant of TSATF for prehistoric gaming. I intend to review any prehistoric rules on the Prehistoriczoo15. Here is a dinosaur vs dinosaur game using "Adventures in Lost Lands" link |
