Just wondering, cause I kinda started "collecting" alot of Germans and Americans(no tanks due to lack of them in stores.

And was hoping to game with them sometime.

Derek H11 Nov 2011 3:25 p.m. PST

There are no gamers in Florida.

Derek H11 Nov 2011 3:25 p.m. PST

Stupid question.

Real Question: Where in Florida?

Sindri11 Nov 2011 4:15 p.m. PST

Gainesville/Jacksonville.

and to Derek, just as there are stupid questions, there are also say it with me stupid answers.

Mako1111 Nov 2011 5:15 p.m. PST

Nope, all wiped out by the hurricanes, tidal waves, gators, pythons, and sharks……

Sindri11 Nov 2011 6:33 p.m. PST

Again, Mako, stupid answer, now, can anyone be serious? or do most people have the mentality of a 12 year old?

most people I meet are ONLY interested in Warhammer/Machine/Fantasy and while I play 40K, it's a bit expensive…

Hey Sindri, have you tried this group?

You have to join the Yahoo group, but they might be what you're looking for.

I'm in Lake Mary (exit98 on I4)3 hours from Jax.

Inari711 Nov 2011 9:36 p.m. PST

The Jax Garrison is one of the biggest Historical Miniature gaming groups in FL. They attend all the HMGS-South conventions and have a great convention that they put on themselves (My favorite) Rapier.

Also get a hold of Mark Rebhun he hosts a "Rapid Fire" game. (WWII)Go the the HMGS-South boards I think he is close to you.

Sindri, Disregard those who appear to be idiots on this site. Here is a list of those on TMP who are in the same county as you. I recommend you contact them. Also check out the HMGS dot org site for links to affiliated clubs in Florida.

Sindri,

We joke and are sometimes obnoxious on this site. You cannot be too sensitive. Some of us are idiots at times just as I expect you are at times as well. So accept the good with the bad.

Florida is a huge state with lots and lots of gamers everywhere. Mostly they are nice guys who share your interests.

Try the Jacksonville group and you can't go wrong.

Palewarrior12 Nov 2011 7:20 a.m. PST

In all fairness the OP was a bit vague, so lending itself to be the target of various puns. I found Sindri's responses a bit harsh.

I don't know of many topics on TMP, that are free from "humorous attacks", but they're all done without malice.

watchtower78 has a group in Jacksonville that games regularly

mad monkey 1 has a group in Gainesille that still games weekly

My group games weekly in Ocala, though we will be very sporadic until after Xmas.

Chip, Edgar and Co. with the Jacksonville Garrison are awesome guys and game on a weeknight and some weekends at a local store in Jacksonville.

If you are into boardgames, The Gainesville Gamers play weekly and have some members who also do miniatures.

If you don't mind a short road trip to Orlando or Tampa, there are multiple groups in both areas.

And Megacomics and Games in Gainesville has some gamers every night, though primarly the Warhammer crowd. It doesn't mean they wouldn't be interested in other generes.

Palewarrior: I probably respond harshly because I get alot of this from all over, I'm very straightforward and to the point, and I don't joke much(though I do once and awhile) and it is hard for me to see what's a joke and what is not, truthfully it is because alot of sites I visit attack me(well, they may say it's humor, but again I'm straight forward, and if you wanna joke about it, don't do it as a first post)

Voda(1) and painter(2):

(1) I looked at them awhile ago, but had more thoughts on them being historical painted(whether pre or you paint them) which is why I never bothered with them, yes I want to do WWII gaming, but not have ot be arsed to go out and paint them or buy expensive models(I do enough of that with 40K and I'm actualyl gonna buy alot of Warzone miniatures to bulk up my Guard army)

(2) I'm in Jacksonville Garrison, and last I asked, they all don't like the unpainted 54mm army men you get from Classic Toy Soldiers…

I do apologize if I came off as overly rude though, it's just I get this alot.

Inari716 Nov 2011 9:03 a.m. PST

Well, most of those groups have figures already painted so you don't have to bring your own. Unlike 40K.

Historical gamers are different then 40K players since there are so few of us we usually have to paint up both sides to play.

So If you hook up with any of the above groups and find WWII gamers they will probably have enough figures for you to play with too.

Its just the nature of the beast.
