I am a satisfied customer of Fernando Enterprises, but have struggled to find a consistently reliable UK painter (where I'd rather spend my £'s) of Napoleonic and WW2 15mm figures. Can anyone recommend a painter – or even a specialist in one or the other as they are different skills – with whom they've had repeatedly good results, and good communication? Thanks

Chris Meacham for Napoleonic; he is pretty quick and does really nice quality work.

I can recommend Mark Tyzack of MT Models.

mtmodels.co.uk/index.html

He has done several parts of an Austrian Napoleonic Army for me, excellent value for his charge.

You can check our services on warcolours.net to see if you like our style and finishing. We are not in UK, but in Italy, therefore it's still Europe (ie no customs and so on…)

I would second Mark at MT Models – he has painted a number of commissions for clients and they have all been very happy with the results.

I would say that he does a very good wargames standard but his style probably wouldn't be suitable for detailed figures such as AB.

I also used him for the bulk of my 25mm FPW infantry.

I can recomend Gareth from Aide-de-Camp painting services
adcpainting.co.uk/default.aspx

he's done some 18mm Napoleonics for me and is currently working on some 15mm WWII

there is some pictures of his work on my blog link

Mike

PS if you do use him don't send him too much as I still have loads of figures for him to work on ;-)

Obviously we recommend our service even if based in Italy.

Check our website

and our galleries.

Happy Wargaming.

i will, over all recommend myself, as a good painter, but spain based. Not a profesional, but quite good quality-price ratio

Not cheap, but try "Wargames Den" (that's not his name, btw) – good quality and clearly competent at the premium end of the figure range (eg AB):-

Hi RuLane
Battle Colours in the UK handle a lot of customer projects, from single miniatures to regiments to complete armies.
Metal, plastic or resin from all over the world.
They have done quite a few of Perrys' plastics, Victrix and Warlord 28mm and other manufacturers' 15mm especially AB.
They can be found at battlecolours.com
or email battlecolours@blueyonder.co.uk

Hope you get sorted out.

Another vote here for "Wargames Den" having seen them 'in the flesh' he paints AB's to a consistent high standard.

Hi

'15mm is $0.25 USD' – is that a mistake or are you the fastest painter EVER!

I paint certain AB or Eureka figures only.. but not cheap.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I have stayed within the UK and have test units out at Gareth from ADC and Geoff of Battle Colours – so far their service has been excellent. Worth noting that the Wargames Den ONLY do AB figures, and I have not heard back from Chris Meacham yet. Ayatollah – they look fantastic; absolutely beautiful but I suspect their (worthwhile) price would be beyond the need of large wargaming armies however pretty I insist they are! Thanks guys!

Quick follow up:
Just received my first batch back from Gareth at ADC. Superb for the price, swift, efficient and responsive service. adcpainting.co.uk/default.aspx

Another batch at battlecolours, and will be sending some to Chris Meacham post-NY.

Glad you found someone to paint them to a standard youre happy with

RuLane31 Jan 2012 1:16 p.m. PST

Quick update, and I'll add photos over the weekend…

ADC – very impressed;
Big Battalions – lost their edge, become woefully unreliable (Thai floods aside);
Fernando Enterprises – superb;
Rebel Yell – sadly unavailable now due to illness;
Chris Meacham – starting first order tomorrow;
Battle Colours – mid-order

I look forward to seeing the photos!!

I very nearly put an order in to Lancashire games recently. I received a sample which I quite liked, and one can buy whole units ready painted and based to a reasonable standard and cost.

Lancashire figures castings are cheap as chips, and the painting rate was very good for a good wargames standard (accurate painting but no shading).

Worth giving them a call.

Thanks, I followed you recommendation. I sent ADC some French Cavalry, Hussars and Chasseurs. Really nice job done by Gareth. Figures reurned in three weeks. Great service and great communication.
