I thought this might give some people a few ideas what can be done with HO scale buildings now that our miniatures have crept up to that size. Many HO buildings are smaller than 1/87 to begin with so that railroaders can fit more on a table. Fallout 3 is the perfect SciFi venue for model railroad buildings since it has a 50's aesthetic which is easy to come by in railroading.

There's a mix of Kerr and King Building and Tram Car, Monroe Models (barrels and other debris), Bachman Gas Station, Life-Like Grocery Store, Rebel Minis Jersey Barriers, smashed cars and junkyard cars from Walthers. Miniature figures will be from GZG, Splintered Light (Feral Ghouls) and Khurasan Miniatures.

Very nice. Can i suggest printing out some small graphics from the game and sticking them to the walls, just to give it some extra fallout flavour. Blue tak or repositionable spray adhesive if you want to keep them generic and remove them later.

These buildings look cool but they definitely need dirtying up a lot!

I've posted these before, but my son had the same idea using HO buildings as the start.

Thanks everyone. Most of the buildings are not painted yet, just the Kerr and King stuff, and as I stated in the blog I haven't put the posters on yet since the buildings aren't painted. Just really a post to show people where I'm headed, get some feedback, and get people excited about the GZG convention.

I hadn't thought of using blue tac or repositionable spray adhesive though.

If anyone has any convention friendly scenario or objective ideas (roughly 4 players) for a board this size I'd love to hear them.

Ambush Alley Jim, I love your board, what figures are you using?

Vosper03 Nov 2011 7:00 a.m. PST

All very nice stuff, thanks for sharing. Just need to find the right colours/shade/tone and tie everything together, and it'll be an excellent gameboard for Fallout.

Thornhammer03 Nov 2011 8:22 a.m. PST

Need some Nuka Cola caps as objective markers.

daddyslittlemen03 Nov 2011 8:28 a.m. PST

I have a cooler with some Nuka-Cola Quantum in it…

Martian Root Canal03 Nov 2011 8:58 a.m. PST

They are almost all GZG.

Stealth100003 Nov 2011 4:45 p.m. PST
