I am preparing to paint Bloodmoon's Jabberwock, but I need to do some research. What color or colors is the creature? The poem does not say. I have seen illustrations using various greens, yellow, purples, turquoise, white and orange. |

Jabberwocks are scintillating blend of colours, shifting subtly but quickly so you can never quite place the colour it is before it is yet again something different. |

You might look at other renderings, to get an idea of color schemes to emulate, or avoid. Google image search on "jabberwock": link |

If only Lewis Carroll and John Tenniel weren't dead. Damned inconsiderate of them to shuffle off this mortal coil without leaving a painting guide. Try sky-blue pink. With orange spots, but only on a Tuesday. Useless info department: Carroll's poem 'Jabberwocky' contains the first mention of vorpal sword. |
