Here's a quote: "I'm beginning work now on the 'Sergeants 3/Din' set and have the Mad Guru fig finished but have to figure out the rest of that pack." To Bob My obvious suggestion, as I have made many times before, is that the three sergeants be in iconic fighting/action poses, firing pistols and wielding swords as depicted in these vintage posters. Enlarge them for a better view: link link link With or without helmets. It really doesn't matter since they were shown both ways in various scenes. You could even mix them up. One or two without helmets or one or two with helmets. You said that you wanted to show Cary Grant's hair, but his cut is short and military in Gunga Din. The most characteristic cut is Fairbanks' with his hair hanging over his forehead. Bandoliers might look cool too as they are also worn in at least one scene. As usual I'll try to supply and photos that you need for the project. |

Western figures NOT wearing dusters or jackets would be welcome. |

On the Gen. Pettygree blog, some of the main characters have several poses with almost the same garments and gear. In Countess Alexandra's case, she has mutiple ensembles – naturally! The only reason is so characters look/act differently in a different scenes. For example, it would not do for Col. Lawford to fire a revolver whilst engaged in polite conversation with Countess Alexandra during tea time. Thus, if the three sergeants + Din come in several poses, that would be a good thing – just for me – which is an inadequate reason to do Sgt. Cutter, et al in several poses. Usually though different poses are available from several manufacturers that are close enough If Bob does the three sergeants, Gunga Din, perhaps the Colonel and Major Mitchell in any pose, that would be a tremendous thing! --- Respectfully, Bill |

One of the guys needs a Thugee pick besides pistol, and one perhaps with dynamite. I am happy to buy a set of 4 special figs, like Mountie, for full price. And also a vote for the Big Walkdown (but add Angel). These has been on a well know Pennsylvania figure makers to do list, as part of otherwise excellent Mexican Revolution range, for 10 years. |

>>One of the guys needs a Thugee pick besides pistol, and one perhaps with dynamite. << That's a thought. >>And also a vote for the Big Walkdown (but add Angel).<< Angel was dead before that scene. |

Guys Bob doesn't normally do "western" stuff. We should be bugging Artizan for the "Wild Bunch" minis. |

Why do so many of those movie posters feature the trio pulling those frankly disturbing grimaces? Was there ever a time that looked wholesome and appealing? |
| The Shadow | 24 Oct 2011 6:40 p.m. PST |
>>Why do so many of those movie posters feature the trio pulling those frankly disturbing grimaces?<< I agree that the head shots on the posters are pretty badly rendered. I collect vintage movie posters and i've had opportunities to pick up that version of the 27x41" poster, but never wanted it. I much prefer the full body poses. In fact, I have the poster previously shown in this string hanging on my den wall. It's the most desirable version. |

>>And also a vote for the Big Walkdown (but add Angel).<< Angel was dead before that scene. No, he wasn't. He'd been captured, but he wasn't killed until General Mapache slit his throat and triggered the final massacre: YouTube link I'd like both the Big Walkdown and Pike firing the .30 cal. |

>>No, he wasn't. He'd been captured, but he wasn't killed until General Mapache slit his throat and triggered the final massacre<< It's true that he wasn't dead yet while they were walking to the showdown. He was killed shortly after. But are you saying that you want minis of them just walking or in action after Angel was killed? I wouldn't want minis of the bunch just walking. They would be useless and boring. Pike with Winchester '97 shotgun and .45, Dutch with Winchester '97, Lyle or tector on MG, the other with shotgun. |
| The Shadow | 25 Oct 2011 10:04 a.m. PST |
What I meant to say in the above messages is that Pike, etc. should be firing those guns. Not walking with them. |
| jpattern2 | 25 Oct 2011 10:31 a.m. PST |
Yeah, I'd be happy with them just walking, as long as they were good likenesses. I often use "shooting" minis in non-combat situations, so I have no problem using non-shooting minis in a combat situation. One man's useless and boring . . . |

Anyway Bob, to continue as if I didn't help to hijack my own thread. :-) If it's too difficult to sculpt the minis in their iconic action poses; allow me to suggest that you might mold the arms and weapons separately and allow us to glue them on. |

Sheesh, I posted a preview pic of my Highland light infantry command with a small mention of starting the Sergeants 3 & Din and that became a discussion of doing the Wild Bunch-two poses per character!!! Its a good idea! But I need to go lie down now. Somebody bring me a glass of warm milk please. Bob pulpfigures.com |

Sorry about the thread hijack Bob. I tried to get us back on track. (-: |
| jpattern2 | 27 Oct 2011 11:43 a.m. PST |
Yeah, and I said right off the bat that I'd buy them. |
| Bob Murch | 27 Oct 2011 12:25 p.m. PST |
The Wildbunch is really fair game period-wise since it does take place in the era of automobiles and machineguns. Plus, you often see cowboy-type characters showing up in far flung places in Pulp stories. My favorite is the cowboy henchman of the quirky Chinese smuggler Ah-Sin from the OTR show 'Voyage of the Scarlet Queen'. Bob |

>>The Wildbunch is really fair game period-wise since it does take place in the era of automobiles and machineguns.<< The Wild Bunch is one of my favorite films and in my top 10 of "westerns". You produce them in action poses and i'll most certainly buy them. They're "pulp era" in spades. |
| roughriderfan | 31 Oct 2011 10:17 a.m. PST |
While I would be more than glad to pick up a set of the Wild Brunch, AFTER they are done how about a group of "professionals" with an expert in tactics, one expert in explosives, one in horse's and one in tracking they too can be considered "pulp" My .02 |
