Has anyone adapted Wings of War for 1/300 scale? I finally got around to playing it for the 1st time this weekend & really enjoyed it. & I already have painted 1/300 biplanes. So I'm trying to figure out any tricks to adjust the rules to use the planes I have. The only real piece of needed info on the bases seemed to be the firing arc & the arrow at the back. I have hex bases for my planes, so I figured if the planes always faced the flat hex side, that 60 degree arc could be used for the firing arcinstead. It probably doesn't exactly match the arc on the WoW bases, but it might be close enough? For the cards, I could try to scan them & reduce their size by half (making them ridiculously small), or just use the regular sized cards & accept the fact the planes are moving faster than they normally would have in that scale. Anything else that would need to be adjusted? Also, I'm curious about the differences between the WW1 & WW2 version of the rules. I was told WW1 planes plot out 3 cards at a time instead of 2 for WW2. Are there any other differences? Thanks for the help |

Since the 1/144 models are probably way over scale compared to the nominal ground scale, I'd suggest you just use the 1/300 planes in place of their bigger brethren without changing anything else. |

Agree with Margard. The WoW models are ridiculously over scale and it looks bad IMHO. For at better scale correctness you should probably use 1/600 aricraft and double the size of the cards – but not double the ranges (it would be easier to move precisely in that way as well. Donīt change the cards and save the money. But 1/300 is a way to start. Looks better and much cheaper too. |

Yup, I think the above are spot on and I would have given the same advice. |

Agree with above. I wouldn't modify the cards at all. |

Brilliant! Thanks all. That makes it really easy. |

To be honest, i've yet to find a game where figure scale and ground scale match up. As the others have said, use as it. |

*WARNING: shameless self-interest plug* "
a game where figure scale and ground scale match up." My (odd and not-too-popular) game could work if you used 1/600 figures on 10" hexes (1 hex = 500'). Even using 1/300 figures on 7.5" hexes
produces a decent visual (imo) where the figures are only 2.7 times larger than they 'should' be. More space (imo) helps players gain a sense of how much room there is to work in and the sky is a fairly large space
so using 1/300 with the existing cards should work/look fine (if not better?). |

What scale are the wow planes miniatures? |
gweirda | 20 Oct 2011 9:00 p.m. PST |
WoW (now WoG) are 1/144 in my very-less-than-informed opinion. |

The WWI 'planes are 1/144. The WWII ones are smaller, 1/200 IIRC. |

Just to check for interest, I started a collection of 1/300 i WW1 and finally decided the small scale did not work for me. I have about a dozen painted and a bunch-- probably 70+-- unpainted. Anyone interested in a fair price on a package deal? |

In stead of buying new planes, etc., wouldn't it be easier to scan the WoW movement cards and double their size and print them out? Would be cheaper and no need to buy and paint new planes. Just a thought. |
kduke42 | 22 Dec 2011 11:01 p.m. PST |
Well, given that each plane averages about 22cards each, that would be a lot of scanning and printing. And illegal. |

KDUKE42, I know it has been awhile but do you have any of your aircraft for sale? |
