Should we have a way to mark those members who have been on the site for at least 10 years? Something like a special icon, service stripes, or a sobriety chip next to the name? |
Samulus | 17 Oct 2011 9:53 a.m. PST |
nah, it'll turn into call of duty, before you know it we'll be calling people asking for info noobs |

Time served icons, post counts. Why do people want reminders of how much time they've ed away on the internet? |

Why have retirement parties for those leaving a company or birthday parties either? It's just time lived or working somewhere. Some people like to follow these things. |

Should it basic members or just paid members?? 8) |
John the Greater | 17 Oct 2011 10:35 a.m. PST |
Sure, why not? Maybe a special icon for the paid members and something cheap and gaudy for the basic members. |

It should be in the form of a big flashing lightbulb that says something to the effect that I have wasted 10 years of my life posting on a board and when I die nobody will notice! |
Jovian1 | 17 Oct 2011 10:44 a.m. PST |
Ah, but we will notice – by the stench left in the basement from all of the corpses which will pile up. |

Why have retirement parties for those leaving a company or birthday parties either? It's just time lived or working somewhere. They are real milestones, and worth celebrating with colleagues/family /friends – i.e. the folks you spend your real life with. Wanting a Mummy's Special Soldier badge to celebrate 10 years of wasting your time posting crap on the internet to complete strangers seems a bit needy. Perhaps I'm too much of a pragmatist. |

Doesn't matter to me. I hit the ten year mark on 31 December 2012. But since we're all going to die on 21 December 2012 I'll never get it. The Other Tim |

Don't mind either way. TMP does not define me. |

i.e. the folks you spend your real life with. There are 15 or so people here that I spend real life with on a regular basis, and another ten that I have met at one time or another. |

Sounds like a good idea, but what should it look like ? I'd favour : cross hairs of a sniper sight (if with an animation of a gamer desperatley trying to get out of the way so much the better) or "kick-me" sign or Clasic Zardoz image (Better Head than Zed) |
