On a scale of 1 (terrible) to 10 (terrific), how would you rate the Jet Age rules in the Check Your 6! series?

9 – I really like the rules system (both W.W. II and Jet Age). The best combination of realism and playability that I've found in an air game.

Some rules are very accurate in how aircraft operate, but are so complex that you had to be a graduate of flight school to understand them. They tend to be VERY slow moving games.

Other rules are too simplistic and although easy to pick up to not give the feel for one aircraft being different from another.

I was always a big fan of the Mustangs and Messerschmitts rules system. Played about a hundred (really) games with my old club over the years, but we lost the basketball court we used to play on.

These rules can be played on my back deck table.

8. Played it a bunch at cons. When I build for it I'm thinking 1/144 but haven't taken the plunge.

And yes, I remember those glory days of 1/72 M&M. Not the easiest system to learn.

7 to 8. I'm not a big fan of the programmed move but I do like the way the game feels as a whole and the combat system.

9 for me, love the missile combat!

How does missile combat work in CY6?

I'd give it about an 8. I enjoy playing.

8. I would rate the WWII version 9.5

8. A comprise between playability and reality.

Lack of distinct power rules is a bit annoying. As it is a F-4 vs MiG-17, have the same accel/decel. With the F-4 having more AB, as an offset. But an F-4 should be able to out power a 17 on Full Mil alone.

However simple house rules can fix this.

Just played it for the first time yesterday- I'd rate it a 9! They hit just the right mix of playability and 'crunch'.

I/we've played CY6 at a club and enjoyed it.

I've been playtesting CY6-JA and like that.

All the combat stuff is pretty good.

The only thing I don't like is that there isn't really much difference between plane types for movement and turning. So I'm using a variation of Flight Leader turn modes and that's working well.

Overall an 8.

The Campaign books though are great. The 'Star and Pyramid' campaign book is a 10.

5. I lost interest quickly when we had more losses to debris strikes from shooting the enemy planes down than from enemy fire.
