Hi,

In the close combat section under Artillery, it mentions voluntary withdrawal. Can anyone point me to the section in the main rules that deals with this? I can't work out if it is a voluntary response to a charge or if it's a reaction to a morale roll.

thanks

I just got the rules a couple of days ago. I agree that that part is not clear. If the receiving battery fails its morale roll, it will flee. It appears (but I can't find it specifically mentioned) that they can limber and withdraw a half move, but I don't know. If this is the case, I would expect the infantry to have to be more than X inches away for a battery to have time to limber. Or, perhaps, the author is alluding to the fact that the crew may withdraw a normal foot move and abandon their guns?
