When playing Check Your Six! Jet Age, how many planes are you comfortable operating at the same time in the same game?

1
2
3
4
5
6
not a CY6! Jet Age player

2 is comfortable for most players, but you can handle up to 4 if you're careful.

2 better, 4 fine. 4 is easier if you give 2 fighters and 2 bomber-types.

Kaoschallenged03 Oct 2011 6:32 p.m. PST

4 at most for each player. Robert

Seen one person handle 9. But they were Bettys on a bombing run in a Cactus Air Force scenario.

2 worked fine for fighters in CAF

For a new player, 1.

Otherwise maybe 2?

One can play four, but the game goes much quicker with two.

Two to four max in my experience.

Having played a lot of games of CY6-Jets (since I wrote them) I would say that much depends on the era you are playing. If playing Korea for example, veteran players can easily handle 4 fighter planes. If playing with lots missiles (like '73 Egypt vs. Israel) 2 planes are more comfortable. This said, some really smart guys can do many more; plus bombers in CY6-JA work pretty much like those in CY6 WWII, so you can easily control 2 fighters and 4 bombers with one player.

Yeah, I have to go with 2 fighters, and really as many bombers (pure bombers, not fighter bombers) as you wish. Since they don't have to be plotted, and they tend to move together, the first thing to do is move bombers. So all the player needs think about is plotting his two fighters.

I also agree with Scott once missiles get into the mix more than 2 fighters can be a headache.
