Which wargaming-related model is your favorite starship? Please mention manufacturer and full product name. |

The Void Fiend from the Tyranid Fleet by Citadel Minatures, for use in the Space Fleet game by GW. A real stinker of a game but great miniatures, especially the Tyranids. (image credit: Stuff Of Legends website, originally from White Dwarf Magazine)

The USS Sulaco, for ships with grav-control. DP9's Valiant-class Strike Carrier (and the related ships in the Macleod program), for centrifuge-tech. link |
TheDreadnought | 01 Oct 2011 7:34 a.m. PST |
I think the question was, favorite starship MODEL. Sulaco on had detail on one side. . . so I'm guessing the actual model is nobody's favorite. |
The Beast Rampant | 01 Oct 2011 7:59 a.m. PST |
I was looking for the B5 model, but was distracted by the prettier pic. |

This one is currently at the top of my list: link I'm one of the few that like GZG's Phalon link I also love almost anything by Irrational Designs link And I feel that I need to mention bergstrom's itty-bitty fighters link |

I'm kind of partial to the 3 Imperial "sword" ship designs from the original Space Fleet.

The Romulan Winged Defender produced by FASA
|
Gangrel | 01 Oct 2011 3:24 p.m. PST |
The Winged Defender?! That's a blast from the past! And
SECONDED! |
NWMike | 01 Oct 2011 4:04 p.m. PST |
I have always been partial to the Battlefleet Gothic Imperial and Chaos ships. Lots of room to customize/personalize them. |
Zen Ghost | 01 Oct 2011 5:03 p.m. PST |
I agree with Inari and Gangrel. I like the FASA line of ships, especially the Romulan ships. In addition to the Winged Defender, I would add the Nova Battleship, Whitewind Cruiser, and the Bright One Destroyer. For the Feds, I would say the Northhampton Troop Ship and the Andor Torpedo Cruiser. But, now I feel old after recalling all that. – ZG |
The Beast Rampant | 01 Oct 2011 5:30 p.m. PST |
Yeah, I was never one for Star Trek, but those FASA minis were really nice. I traded all mine off years ago..for what, I don't remember. |
elsyrsyn | 01 Oct 2011 6:08 p.m. PST |
I like the GZG Outrim Coalition fleet quite a lot, and also their Kravak ships. Doug |
John Leahy | 01 Oct 2011 6:14 p.m. PST |
Yeah, the Narn G'quan. I also love the Hyperion. The Omega also ranks high. Thanks, John |
nvdoyle | 01 Oct 2011 9:40 p.m. PST |
Both GW's Cathedrals In Spaaaaace! and Irrational's Belters have strong places in my heart. Gokiburi, thank you for that first link! |
TheBeast | 02 Oct 2011 6:59 a.m. PST |
You've all proven I can't come up with a favorite. From my original Minifigs to the embarassing large pile of unpainted resin psuedo-BSG recently purchased, I love them all. A parent may have a favorite child, but shouldn't be willing to admit it. ;->= Dan055: I STILL say those are actually pre-fall Eldar. ;->= Doug |
richarDISNEY | 03 Oct 2011 8:14 a.m. PST |
Actually, most of them are great. I just can't seem to get into starship gaming. And Lord knows I have tried.

The Angry Piper | 04 Oct 2011 5:39 a.m. PST |
I love all the War Rocket stuff, but I'm also really into the Firestorm Armada Directorate Fleet. link Actually, all the Firestorm Armada ships look great (and they're pretty big, too). Just wish I could find someone locally who plays. |
TheBeast | 05 Oct 2011 8:25 a.m. PST |
@Angry Piper Is there any space gaming occurring locally? You could always proxy the ships into another game. FMI: Do you favor one fleet? Doug |
Captain Gideon | 05 Oct 2011 9:43 a.m. PST |
Eventhough I like alot of ships out there for myself my all time favorite Starship has to be the Space Battleship Yamato, from the StarBlazers/Space Cruiser Yamato ANIME show of the 1970's. The Yamato was my all time favorite Battleship and when I heard about this Japanese show I was very pleased. Captain Gideon |
The Angry Piper | 05 Oct 2011 10:38 a.m. PST |
TheBeast: If there's any space gaming, I can't find it. I don't actually play FA, but I sould love to give it a shot if someone else wouldn't mind investing along with me. I already bought two War Rocket Fleets in the hopes of getting my friends into it, because none of them wanted to buy a fleet of their own without trying the game first. FA seems much more costly to play than War Rocket, so I don't want to buy two fleets unless I'm really into the game. |
TheBeast | 06 Oct 2011 6:06 a.m. PST |
If there's any space gaming, I can't find it. I know the feeling, though every time I set out ships for Full Thrust when I finally pin someone down to play, at least I hear a lot of others saying 'oh, yeah, we got to play that again some time!' ;->= I don't have focus and jedi crowd-force to keep something like that going, though. Back on topic, I will repeat my solid love of the old CMD sculpts moulded by GZG for the ESU. Sulaco on had detail on one side. . . so I'm guessing the actual model is nobody's favorite. For the record, I've a Sulaco model with detail on all sides, and I've used large plastic models for gaming a few times in the past. Doug |
Valator | 13 Oct 2011 6:20 p.m. PST |
ninjamagic.com Todd Boyce's Battlestar Galactica-inspired ships have been some of my favorites for years. The Guardian, pictured above, being my favorite miniature and space warship design. |

Lion in the Stars | 14 Oct 2011 6:36 a.m. PST |
Halcyon models made a fairly pricey USS Sulaco, detail on both sides. Wish I could find one, but I have settled to smaller scales than 1/3900 for my 'scale' starships. |
BlackWidowPilot | 14 Oct 2011 4:39 p.m. PST |
If it's for Space Battleship Yamato, I'm there, dude! Otherwise, just about anything from the classic Superior Star Fleet Wars series has my attention
