I was going through an old issue of The Courier when I came across a reference to Knight Designs, a company who apparently used to make 6mm Crimean War. I was interested to know if anyone out there has heard of this company, are they still around (not listed on the directly here on TMP), and did they make anything beyond the Crimean War period? I think they were based in the UK, but I am at work and can't verify that at the moment. |

They were based in the UK but disappeared/ceased trading in the 90s I think. I'm not sure if they did any Crimean stuff but from what I remember they were pretty prolific in bringing new ranges out. I don't think they were around for very long. I did buy some stuff but never painted it up! I think it ended up in the cast your own pot? |

I tried a couple of times. Their US counterpart was "unimpressive". I thionk he was working out of his mom's garage. Then again I was trying to get the 6mm Alamo |

The stuff was terrible. I owned the Crimean Wars set. Lousy. Thanks, John |

Knight Designs in the UK were pretty unique in that they cast individual 6 mm figures, not strips like H&R/ irregular etc. That said they've been defunct for a long long time. Shame, cause their 2mm micro armour was wondrous to behold. |

Hmmm, doesn't sound promising on several levels. Too bad that, sounds like they made some interesting periods, but from thw quality aspect and the service aspect sounds like they had no clue on how to run a business! Thanks all for giving me a bit of an education on Knight Designs! |

I have some of their Zulus, which were okay-ish, and British lancers, which really, really weren't. I had two orders, I think. The second was long delayed, for reasons of the 'dog ate my homework' variety. |

I have the British, French, and Russian armies coming to me from a Bartertown ad. A few hundred minis for $20.00 USD (also included was an Irregular Miniatures Turkish army and some Baccus figs). I will try to remember to take some pictures and share them on my blog. For $20.00 USD, even if the figs are bad, at 6mm and little investment I can at least get blue, green, and red blobs on the table and do the Crimean War on the very cheap! |

I'd like to see photos of your new figs Darryl. |
