Looking for some sites or guides on typical uniform, colour schemes for mid 16th century Spanish Conquistadors. I would be using these as allies for an Inca army if there are any particular co ours or uniform bits worn in those battles. Any help appreciated!

Cheers

No uniform, but take a look at this: link

The box art of those plastic sets may be useful. Just click to enlarge.

Find an old Wargames Illustrated with a Foundry ad for their Conquistador line and used that. Unfortunately, I can't find that line of figures on their website now so maybe they that taken it out of production. That's why I suggested the old Wargames Illustrated. If you an ad, it will provide a lot of samples. Richard

hadn't thought of the plastics box art! I have lots of old Wargames Illustrated so will dig some of those out for a search. Any good blogs on this period?

Good stuff. Also found the Foundry site has Spanish Elizabethan figures
Which would probably give a good idea of some possible colours etc

I went with Reds and Yellows, besides a lot of different leather colours plus chain-mail and steel. I over did it thou, they look to uniformed.

I used to have some Spanish and the same issue. I ended up going with a fairly sombre palette, lots of browns, ochre, black, off white with red or red any yello being the only uniform aspect. Here's a pic;

They were quite quick to paint too, aside landsknechts anyway !
