Like the title says, I would love to find any/all of these as inexpensive plastic, 54mm.

Please note, what I need must be prior to the issue of Adrian or other helmets--just caps and other such headgear as these other principle players wore in the Disaster of 1914.

I don't find these from any of the "big" plastic figure companies, but are there any Overseas or smaller outfits that might produce these?

Please PM me or answer here if you can offer any advice!

Thank you all for your time,

TVAG

How about Armies in Plastic figs with headswaps?

Cloudcaptain!

Well, these are very impressive HEADS, but I'm not finding all the army specific caps and other headgear I need.

Can you say if you know if these heads are close to 60mm than 54mm in order to match the somewhat oversized AIP's?

Still, I'm going to save this link--Thank you!

If you have any more ideas, please share 'em!

Thank you!

Cloudcaptain!

While I find no French for 1914, there are other heads that would be great to have.

Do you know what these cost? I'm not finding prices, and only a UK telephone number. I'm Stateside, so contact seems a bit daunting.

Any extra info would be greatly appreciated!

Historex Agents appears to be out of business, and the company, Hornet, is not listed in the TMP Manufacturers listings.

Do you know of any other sources for these?

And, YES!, I like these.

AIP does make WWI French in capotes. A head swap with something in a kepi would do something close to Belgians. Check out the LittleWars yahoo group for some inspirational conversions.

They are going to be more 54mm ish but I was thinking the conversion might be easier on the AIP figs as they are thicker.

Squadron used to carry Historitex:

They would be your best bet for a lead on the heads. Will keep looking.

…..but they still seem to be in business to me (although I've never had need to use them) and they appear to have a wide variety of Hornet 'bits' available.

Not sure if these will be any good to you.

Dear twicethecaffeine,

Thank you for the obviously very alive link!

I tried using other links and Web searches, but everything appeared to be dead--especially the info in the TMP Manufacturers List.

That said, I found a US retailer, Colorado Miniatures, who sells the same Hornet resin Head Sets, and I may very well order some from them.

Then again, most of these excellent appearing sculpts are in 1:35, which might be noticeably small on 1:32 figures, and seriously too small on AIP's.

Are there any other companies that provide comparable--but true 1:32--heads with or without period headgear in resin or metal?

Cloudcaptain!

Thanks for the Squadron Link, but they don't list either Hornet nor Historex (save the French company). But, as I said, there's at least one supplier I've found Stateside.

nnascati!

I went back to AIP, but the closest thing they offer to the French uniform (and headgear) of 1914 are their FFL, and while they might work for some things, I'm not yet sure they quite solve my problem.

Still, it would be great if these would at least provide the back bone of a French force in 1:32 plastic.

Thanks to all, but please don't assume I don't still want advice!

Can you go with an FFL range for the French?

You can probably use Colonial Egyptians for Turks (I have thought of doing that myself).

I think the AIP line does very easy conversions and look pretty good when painted. I have converted WWI and colonial era cavalry, as well as the Gatling guns and the screw guns crew sets to be naval brigade gun crew figures. I think it would be fun and easy to take the kepi, sun hats from the colonial range and add these to the adrian wearing French figures. There is also the ACW range for varied Kepis. I would love to see the conversions.

Some great Turks here, this line may also hold some interesting head for swaps.

yes, I have seen those. I've been thinking about seeing how they size up with other stuff on the market.
