What would be the protocol for a lost package? Last week I sent a package delivery confirmation and the gentlement said he never got it. it turns out the post office delivered to one of his nieghbors and they sent it pack to me. I then sent it back.
Question: if the package never arrived and I had proof of delivery what should on e do to resolve the issue with the customer.
I now have a package on its way to germany that is going on about three weeks. the customer is worried and I would like to get a group consensus on how to handle this sort of issue in the future or if there are any tricks to get the packages tracked or signed for when shipping to europe?
thanks

I do a lot of tradeing and selling on the Battletech sites, the only way you can garentee that your parcel has reached its destination is if you get it regestered, that way the person your sending the parcel to has to sign for it upon delivery. If no one is home when delivery is attempted the postman has to leave a slip to inform the person that delivery was attempted and is then the parcel is returned to the local post office or sorting office for an additional two weeks to be collected, after that time period has elapsed the parcel is then returned back to the sender.

I had a recent order to Germany take more than 4 weeks to be delivered. If an overseas customer starts asking before 4 weeks are up I then ask for them to wait. If at 4 weeks still no package I do a weekly check-in. After 6 weeks I say its gone and begin to reimburse the customer.
