So, which Sci-Fi Miniatures scale do you prefer, and currently game with, between these options? 1. 15mm/18mm? 2. 25mm/28mm? 3. I use miniatures in both these scales for Sci-Fi gaming. 4. I don't use either of these scales of Sci-Fi minis. 5. Not a Sci-Fi gamer. |

Why are all the other scales excluded? If you're going to run it, include the rest. |

"Why are all the other scales excluded? If you're going to run it, include the rest". I added a separate poll, but wanted to see how these two compare for numbers, without the clutter of all the other scales as well. |

I question back is there any SF miniatures in 28mm? Note I don't count 40k and it's many clones as Science Fiction… |

These days mostly #1 with a smattering of 6mm thrown in just for good measure. |

2 is close, but the scale in my collection's case is more @ 28-32mm than @ 25-28mm. I have some in other scales or that are fairly scale-free but I only game with the ones that work alongside of the ca. 2s. |

3. Infinity is my squad-per-side game, and I step down to 15mm minis for anything larger. I question back is there any SF miniatures in 28mm? Note I don't count 40k and it's many clones as Science Fiction… I take it you haven't seen Infinity? Or Rezolution? Or the Hasslefree scifi minis? I will ignore Relic Knights as that is pretty much pure anime "sci" fi. Anima Tactics is about as scifi as most Final Fantasy games (not counting FF7). |

3 Is there any interest out there in 25mm sf figures I wonder. I like 1/64, keeps the vehicles a bit smaller and it matches up with toy cars. |
chromedog | 05 Dec 2014 10:11 p.m. PST |
28mm. Stopped playing with 20mm and smaller back in the 80s. As I get older, my eyesight doesn't improve – so smaller is not better – but 288 sits in the "just right" band for me. |

3. But its a different game in the 2 scales IMO 28mm is skirmish (a reinforced platoon size tops, eg 40K), wheras 15mm is up to reinforced company size gaming or ecven abstacted to Battalion size. |
Cergorach | 07 Dec 2014 7:44 a.m. PST |
3. I have all kinds of different scales 6mm, 10mm, 15/18mm, 28/30mm for sci-fi (plus a multitude of different sci-fi space ship scales). Just different tools for different kind of games, sure there is overlap, but we're still stuck with what is produced in what scale, what material and what price… For 28/30mm I prefer plastics, for 15/18mm we're stuck with metal and resin. For 10mm I prefer plastics as well (MWDA, CAV, DZC), but with Planetfall I'm also moving into resins… I have way more for 28/30mm, because it's pretty much the default scale for sci-fi the last 25 years, and well… 40k… |

25mm for StarGrunt II, which focuses on platoon-level infantry skirmishes. 25mm for tactical situations in Traveller, if we're going to put miniatures on the table. Those often get role-played out while looking at schematics. You didn't want the clutter of the other scales, so I won't talk about my preferences for games at company to battalion level. |
